hi my name is rebecca and i am 21 and my boyfriend/partner is 17 and we have been courting for about a year and a half now.
I was wondering if you could give me any advice as we have had many discussions about when it would be right and appropriate for us to get married/engaged. its a realy difficult situation due to our age difference with me as a 21 year old thinking that waiting more than 4 years from now would be really difficult whereas he is looking at it from the viewpoint that 21 (how old he wil be in 4 years) he feels is too young to get married.
i dont know if its just me, but does age of marriage matter so cruicially or should it be based on the love between the two?
I dont want to run the risk that the relationship might go ‘stale’ due to long courtship but as the female its not really my call on the marriage as i believe it is the male who should propose.
We believe in chastity before marriage and i am also concerned at the difficulty of upholding this if a 6-8 year courtship if what we are going to do.
Also i want to have a decent sized family, like 4 kids probably and would also just like some ‘us time’ after we get married for a year or so unless of course God blesses us earlier. In which case i would be looking at having my first kid at around 28/29 if we were to get married in 4 years which i feel is getting a bit into the later stages.
He wants to be 100% sure before we get married and i agree that you have to be called to it, but is anyone every 100% sure of everything cos i would imagine not.
Deeply in need of some advice.
God bless,
rebecca
