Covering their sin

My Fundamentalist friend stated that Jesus has covered her sins? Where does this come from, and help???I have heard of washing away sins, but not covering them.
Can someone enlighten me?
 
Many protestant religions- especially Lutheranism, believes that man is like a heap of dung (to use Luther’s analogy), that is full of putrescent sin.

They believe our salvation from God is like a blanket of white snow that covers the dung heap completely- shutting out all the sin.

Yeah…what Shiann said. And during Judgement God looks down and will only see Jesus, and the person is Justified because he is hidden by Christ (under the snow that shiann spoke of…I’ve always heard cloak)…

The interesting thing (to me) is that these are the same people who will say they have a personal relationship…but somehow skip personal judgement?? Always has been confusing to me.

Any dog owner will tell you that the worst time to walk around in your backyard is when it has recently snowed. Just because the dung is covered doesn’t mean you won’t get it on your shoe.

I don’t want Christ to hide me forever, I want Him to change me completely.

You will obviously hear such statements from our brothers who do not have authentic priesthood. Real priests who represent Christ are ordained and have the authority to forgive sins.Mat.16:19
I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

I believe, God forgives and forgets. This is done through confession and absolution by the priest who represents Christ. But covering is totally different from washing as already stated in other posts. What is covered can not be forgotten but any time can be revealed. When we go to confession we become new and start afresh.

Let our brother fundamentalist open books and read history. Through reading wisdom and knowledge are obtained.

of course there are many, many protestants who are “deep in history” and continue to be protestant, so it is not history that is the convincing factor.
 
That is just a quote from one of our saints but it is God’s grace that converts the heart. For instance Saint Paul did not read any history to convert.
Or part is just prayer and showing good example in both our faith and deeds.

In the OT , the Psalms and in Isaiah it speaks of their sins (that is people who lived before Christ died) being covered. God can not look a sin stained person so he covered their sin with robes of rightiousness. Those who live after Christ death and are believers have the stain of sin washed away by Christ blood.

Well, yeah…in the OT they had no one with given the power to bind and loose that Jesus gave to the apostles and their successors. We do have those successors to loose those sins so that we can be forgiven by God. Sin cannot exist in God’s presence, so to go to heaven, our sins must be cleansed and forgiven.

Really, then how far back is a Protestant’s history on the ‘true’ church? Since you only have been around the last 500 years or so…

No one can say for sure how God ‘feels’ about these things…you are not God.

But they probably think He will when they are going to enter Heaven.

Well, yeah… but we do not have to wait untill we can go to a preist to confess and have our sins forgiven. We can confess a sin at any time with a simple prayer with the assurence that God will forgiven us.

“What sins you forgive have forgiven them, what sins you retain are retained”. As Jesus breathed on the apostles with the Holy Spirit.

Did you interpret this passage as something other than pennance?

Really Baptist, that is wayyyyyyyyyyy to easy for ya. That is why I love my Catholic faith, it is a sacrifice and it is not easy. Jesus said it won’t be easy to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
