Covering their sin

They were all from the American Baptist Convention, a liberal baptist group. And most other mainline protestants demonations have become liberal too. No "Regular Baptist’ could make that mistake

By the way some years back our church had a very good pastor who grew up in a Catholic family. He would talk about the ECF"'s and how the Catholic Church had misinterpeted their writings.

They are NOT from an american baptist convention…you are in complete denial…talk about misinterpretation.🤷
These are people like yourself who found out the true church of Jesus Christ. period.
 
Some people have scales over their eyes…put there by their own will…and until they will it, the scales will never be removed.

So when or if you make it there, look for me. I will be the saint carrying a sign that says HEY, CATHOLICS I TOLD YOU SO

I am sorry you have leukemia, I live with someone who has congestive heart failure and who can die any day without me knowing when. I do not debate who goes to heaven or not because I am not God. For I do believe you will be there and I will probably spend some 3,000 years in purgatory…in all said, I am glad that you did mention you’d be a saint 😃 I know you will have peace when your time comes, as I hope I will have peace with mine. We are all in this together Allischalmers. I will say a prayer that God have mercy on your soul, as I’d like one from you for me too.🙂

I believe that in heaven there will be no I told you so’s. We will have to be perfected and that would involve saying you told me so not a pridefull I was right.

God be with you allischamers I pray you will continue to draw closer to
Christ in your illness. I’m sorry you are going through this illness.:gopray:
 
There is no pride in heaven but God’s pride. The only “I told you so” will be that of people that are keeping their promises to meet on that Golden Shore.

To Allischalmers:

May God grant you peace and comfort in your illness. I know that healing you is not beyond His ability, but I will pray that His will in your life be done.

I do hope that we do meet over there, God’s grace extends to all that are open to it through faith. In that, I believe we agree.

Hey… If you have adamantly refused to see the light you think every regular Baptist is like you.
Allischalmers let me also tell you that only God knows who will go to Heaven, but you sound as if you are free from sin in other words, you presume that you are already saint.Tell me you have already checked on the admission list. Life is a strugle and so Judge not…
Let us work out our Salvation with prudence…

1John 5; 13 These thing have I written onto you that beleive That you may know that you have eternal life

I think that tells it very well !
 
Of course we know that all who are repentant of their sins shall live forever, but it does not follow that one who sins and continues to sin will be saved.

1 Jn 3: 15Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him.
You lose “eternal life” when you commit grave sin, in this case murder and deep anger against someone are sufficient. You have eternal life when sanctifying grace is in your soul, when you commit grave sin you lose the grace in your soul and with that lose salvation.

1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the father, Jesus Christ the righteous

1 John 2; 12 I write unto, little chrildren because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake
 
Hmm… it seems to me that 1 John 2:1,12 are contradicted by 1 John 3:15…

The normal standards of dealing with that is that the latest statement is the correct one, no?

Or perhaps…

That if we are repentant for our sins and we turn to avail ourselves of the graces freely offered by God through Jesus, then we will be saved. But if we spurn those graces, and turn our hearts away, we will be the ones that cry “Lord, Lord” and be not acknowledged by Him.

That’s cuz he’s not quoting from the correct bible. The bible of the Catholic church that was once handed down to him, free of error, until changes were made by heretics.

The verses are the same meaning in the Douay-Rheims…so it is not the translation…

But I will say that the ones from 1 John 2 are taken out of context.

So Luther wasn’t a heretic?
 
Did not say that…but that is not the topic of this thread.

Further, Luther made no changes (that I am aware of) to 1 John, which are the verses in question.

We can discuss the canon of the Bible, the Deutero-canonical books, and the changes proposed by Luther and the other Protestants in another thread.

In other words, IF YOU SIN, you can be forgiven if you repent.

But with the Protestant perspective there is no such thing as sin, you dont believe in sins like murder even. To you, if you are a believer and you commit what appears to be murder is really nothing, if an unbeliever commits what appears to be murder they earn them self a spot in hell.
