Covid 19 created by China?

I found this video about the Corona virus. This Professor claims that one of our universities sold the covid 19 virus to China.
Can anyone verify this?

Trump and Rush Limbaugh said that China created this as a bioweapon. I found one other source that said it is true, also.

Not sure what part of “The way I understand it”, you are missing?
The antecedent of “it”, which rook as referring to the conspiracy theory itself, not the video.
My question remains: any reputable sources?

Most likely no. Personally, I believe China did not create COVID-19. Viruses mutate easily on their own into more dangerous ones without humans engineering them.
Where China is responsible is their lack of interest in reducing the chances of new viruses jumping to humans such as regulating wet markets and wildlife trade (those should be banned with some possible exceptions). But China isn’t the only place that has conditions that tilt things in favour of such epidemics or pandemics.
The communist regime is also culpable for its cover up and campaign of disinformation in an attempt to salvage their reputation.

A couple of thoughts -

I wonder what advantage could accrue from designing a virus to kill (mainly) fat old people?

If a vaccine (or vaccines) are developed, will James Lyons-Weiler tell people not to get vaccinated?

Biological sciences aren’t my field, I’m merely expressing a profound cynicism about conspiracy theories.

Hm

Question: Who to choose between? The Chinese Communists or fringe ‘Infowars’ characters like Boyle and Lyons-Weiler?

Answer: Neither.

Who is Boyle?
See the op.
Wait, so Institutions like the Indian Institute of Scientist
Look, ok, virology is obviously your field and you know enough about it to analyse stories about it on the Internet with some expertise.

It isn’t my field, so I can’t do that.

On the other hand, in the world of what I do know a lot about, I’ve learned to be very cynical about Internet rushes to judgement.

I’m not in the prediction business but I think it’s about as certain as anything can be that the topic of the origins and spread of this virus isn’t going away for a very, very long time.

As others have said, please provide a reliable source supporting that President Trump has said this virus is a Chinese-created bioweapon.
Otherwise, that allegation is not credible.

I will stick with you. The great thing about skepticism is that there is no need to choose, especially as the evidence all the way around is sliver thin. Maybe there was some sort of leak from their version of the CDC. Maybe it did come from a viral mutation. The latter is more common by far, but both are possible.

So what? We have to deal with the virus now in any case.

Is that the right answer? Maybe not now is the most ppropriate, but I would think we don’t want this to ever happen again.
Of course we don’t want to deal with it again. But again, so what? We cannot stop viruses from mutating, the most likely cause. We have no say in safety protocols in China, a less likely cause. Except for some psychological imperative to fix blame, I see no benefit in this sort of speculation, especially from the internet blog-o-rama.

There is a huge difference between the New York Times and the New York Post. The Times has a decent reputation that the Post can only dream about. In fact this whole thread is filled with questionable sources. Verify all sensational reporting before you spread it like a virus.

It’s so interesting watching the right navigate between loyalism and science, keep it up, you may eventually get it!~!~ hahaha

It’s in the N.Y. Times article here:
That article you posted is not from the NY Times, which is considered to be a respectable bastion of journalism.

It is from the NY Post, which is a tabloid one step above the National Enquirer.

Furthermore, it is an opinion piece, not a factual article, and was authored by an activist with a longstanding anti-China agenda.

This isn’t politics, it’s mankind! Humanity is dying and people are putting their lives on the line. Glad it’s a laughing matter to you, but it isn’t to many people.
It’s no laughing matter its disgusting and intellectual laziness on full display that now science is serious to those that have been denying it for too long!~!~…It’s like calling on God during a crisis for your life, when you’ve ignored HIs words even after they’ve come to you through our Holy Father (insert scientists here) as well.

Science has been dissed, now they’re hailed and even held up to a standard that has not been allowed to exist since the onset of this admin.

All of a sudden everyone is all ears…YIKES, it’s affected the personal pocket book.

Please Blake, don’t endorse a bully pulpit and face it towards me…I’ve believed for far too long it’s not the billionaires who’ve saved the world as much as the scientist, and even more so, Charity…!~

I’m with you. I’ve also got no problem both declaring that I do not know the origin’s of the virus and that I may never know.

Here’s his bio. He’s an anti-abortion activist who was thrown out of China and then expelled from Stanford for alleged ethical violations in his research done in China.
His whole career is basically all about criticizing China. It’s his bread and butter.
While it’s nice that he’s against killing babies, he’s hardly an unbiased reporter.
