This has been a travesty and we have to make sure it can never happen again.
My grandparents lived through the Spanish influenza epidemic. They saw their friends and loved ones die. They experienced quarantine and uncertainty. Fifty million people worldwide died. My grandmother lost her fiance to the disease!

And here we are 102 years later.

So how do we make sure this never happens again?

Governor Cuomo warned what happened in his state was coming to our
states - except it didn’t! My state has 8 million people and our deaths are up to
362. Around 1600 was predicted.
When quarantine and social distancing works, there will always be people who respond with, “See, we overreacted!” rather than recognizing that things didn’t get as bad BECAUSE of the quarantines and social distancing.

Thanks be to God that the numbers so far have been leveling off and going down in so many places!

Yes, in my state we have gone 2 days in a row with zero deaths.

Restaurants can re-open May 11th for dining in.

I will cautiously return to a normal life while watching the statistics.

They are doing blitz covid-19 testing 3 weekends in a row.

Soon I hope to get the antibody test.

Well, they have been warning for very many years some kind of pandemic would
take place in the future. I guess between 9-11, terrorism, wars, hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, elections, real estate recession and stock market crash
everyone hoped it would not happen. Maybe this was an experiment to observe
our behavior and preparedness.

By the way, I am glad Governor Cuomo is not my governor.

What a strange thing to imagine! If he were the governor of your state, he would probably serve well according to the circumstances in your state, and your state would be just as well off.

It means I am glad I don’t live in New York under his thumb.

In the circumstances existing in New York, he is leading and serving well. His thumb has nothing to do with it. He is playing the hand he was dealt. I certainly wouldn’t play Monday Morning Quarterback and tell you how he could have done it better. (Wow! Three metaphors in a row! Sorry.)

We may be thankful that things are better in other states like yours. That’s the great thing about the United States. United we stand, at least in principle.

Meh, we heard the same thing during the Bush years. And how our respect in their eyes went up during the Obama years. Since I personally thought Obama was a buffoon, I am not sure I care about the respect of people who awarded him a Nobel Peace prize 30 days into his tenure and think he is the kind of American the world needs. In short, I don’t much care, and I suspect at least half of America doesn’t either. Since you seem to think you were doing us a favor and all by letting us know…

Pretty much. Are there many other countries that truly get why Americans are the way we are, and how different the American way of life is, from politics, to healthcare, to the military to sports? Not many.

This gets magnified when the President is a decidedly pro-America person, and diminished when he feels the need to tell the world how bad America is.

She would not be welcome in his state, because she is pro-life, and we know how he feels about those rascals.

A real quality guy.

I’m just showing that the PRC and CCP are thinking strategically, and the US is caught because the Executive is thinking tactically. You can already see the president’s re-election campaign has pivoted from, “look at the economy”, to “it’s those people over there, it’s all their fault”.

I also think that someone who doesn’t take responsibility for his own actions is a poor choice of leader.

@tomarin

Unfortunately, the deaths started up again from zero for 2 days in a row to 60+
deaths over 3 days which makes me a little suspicious. Last week it was 16-20.
