And Jeeves, of course.

I once thought I had heard him say something, in propria persona, that I agreed with, but I can’t recall it. I’m probably wrong.

She came out of the woods one day a few years back, skin and bones. About 6 months old. I fed and watered her, so we had a cat! Middle of July, so we are supposing that she ran away from wherever she was due to fireworks noise. We checked for lost notices, with vets, etc. Nothing.

Is this video biased or what?
No, it reflects scientific understanding of the virus.
yup agree the video does reflect the scientific/medical understanding of covid-19

have to wonder if the OP considers the video biased because the whole issue w/ the quarantine and knock on effects in the economy is to say the least a bit of an inconvenience?!

New report says coronavirus pandemic could last for two years – and may not subside until 70% of the population has immunity World News
unfortunately given human nature we are going to have to fact the fact that because most grownups pretty much have no self control, selfish herd culling is going to happen!!! [Will 60% Get Coronavirus? w Stephen Fry.] in order to understand why some don’t buy into we’ll studied hard science issues like climate change, have been looking for answers else where,… specifically psychology looking at competence and discipline (or rather the lack thereof) FWIW The Marshmallow Test is a …

I haven’t watched this, but I love Stephen Fry. I could listen to him for hours. I may not agree with him on religious matters, but he’s still brilliant if you ask me.
I don’t agree with him on lots of things but he is still smart, talented and funny.

It took a few jabs at US “conservatives” and President Trump. All true, by the way, but gratuitous nonetheless.
I do think Americans need to realise just how much the rest of the world looks at the US as a car crash at the minute.
That means the rest of the world is probably getting the liberal media spin to the
story. Most of the country is not like New York, New Jersey, Massachussettes,
Michigan, Illinois or Connecticut.

The rest of the country has been on lockdown and the deaths are on the way
down. We are ready to being a cautionary return of our lives. @Inquisitor85

Oh, by “car crash,” I thought @Inquisitor85 meant not the disease itself, but the haphazard US response. Starting at the top, it’s a failure of leadership, but the people are at fault as well. Keep your seat belt fastened.

I’ve never understood why a certain sub group of American conservatives, when confronted with a story that disagrees with their world view immediately call it “liberal media spin” as if that ends the discussion. Let me put it this way, the UK’s response has been late and the lockdown here isn’t enforced well enough, but UK based media haven’t been reporting that so much.

It also comes to something when the Irish media releases an opinion piece pitying the US.

Yeah, the US response to this has been at best haphazard however I don’t specifically mean this crisis. I mean most of the world has looked at the current administration as a car crash since day one.

US this, US that…blah blah blah.

I am waiting for the Richard Simmons video on covid-19, since Norm MacDonald** states that Mr. Simmons is “really, really, really gay.”

** Canadians are really nice and never wrong.

New York’s response was haphazard and because of that New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachussettes and Pennsylvania were greatly impacted and had high death tolls along with Michigan and Illinois. Those 7 states account for
way over half of the deaths. There are 43 other states that have been able to
keep deaths way below what was predicted.

Governor Cuomo warned what happened in his state was coming to our
states - except it didn’t! My state has 8 million people and our deaths are up to
362. Around 1600 was predicted.

Do you live in the U.S.? You say the current administration has been a car crash
since day one - you are very wrong. President Trump had done an excellent job
until - surprise! surprise! - just as the election year starts here comes the pandemic. All the hard work Trump and his team did since he took office
in January of 2017 has been turned upside down.

The car crash since day one you refer to has been the democrats and their all
out endeavor to destroy the president by investigations, lies, sabotage and
impeachment.

So the liberal media spin about the U.S. and Trump is alive and well
in Ireland and probably throughout Europe.

Yeah, I’m in the UK and our response has been pretty poor, once you get beyond the furlough scheme. However I do keep up with US politics from an array of sources both US and non US. The fact that you think your Executive has done a good job to now concerns me, beyond unemployment numbers I’m struggling to see where he’s done well. (I’m also aware that there’s some debate as to whether the numbers are because of Trumps policies or Obama’s.)

What mostly concerns me for the US is Trump’s foreign policy and foreign policy handling are poor, now this will take a while to come to roost but the US is increasingly seen as untrustworthy and if French and German sources are to be believed frankly dangerous. Being seen as untrustworthy at the same time as the Chinese are ploughing huge resources into the One Belt One Road Initiative is decidedly unwise. It might look good for short term re-election prospects, but the CCP is thinking 22nd century not this November. When even close European allies are thinking in terms of defence sovereignty and meaning not buying arms from US contractors there’s a major issue.

What do you mean? That the pandemic was staged to coincide with the election year.

What about Italy? They locked down and faced massive amounts of death because it’s an election year in the US?

In addition to the above, Stephen Fry is a longtime friend of Hugh Laurie (of “(Dr.) House” fame). They did a comic show way back called ‘A Bit of Fry & Lauri’.

He was also the other half of the legendary “Fry and Laurie” comedy team.

Staged isn’t exactly the word I would use.

I have my theories of people so powerful and so wealthy who want to change the world how they think it should be. Global economic collapse, a collapse of our way of life
(church, education, entertainment, employment, business) would certainly benefit
them in their vision.

This has been a travesty and we have to make sure it can never happen again.
