Suffice it to say I disagree. I researched the so called healings at Lourdes. Out of I believe five plus million visitors there were something like 65 confirmed healings (or numbers to that effect). In other words these numbers merely reflect the statistical probability that some individuals with bad diseases or injuries (that may even be considered incurable or untreatable) get well.

The “scientific support” your referring to is a small collection of doctors whose job it is to investigate these alleged healings. When I look at these numbers (and frankly other alleged Catholic miracles) it’s clear to me it’s absurd to attribute these things to supernatural (much less divine) causes. Obviously you disagree, and we’ll have to agree to disagree 🤷
That´s what I thought. Remain silent you atheist. I am not indoctrinate ,I got all the facts because I researched my Faith well enough that is why I´m Catholic.

I’m the reverse. I started out as a devout Christian (with years of theological training) who became an atheist.

Well, if you read the historic record how we became believers in our Triune God, it was by faith in Christ. We have yet to be baptised with water. However, my people have been baptised into Christ by the Spirit as exlained by that nice Protestant missionary named Adam Junior. No roast pork for you until my people are baptised in the ocean or our beautiful rivers. - Chief

um…none? I would rather have the Tao Te Ching, and the Tao of Pooh, or maybe The Collapse of the Third Republic.

If I had to choose 2 books from the bible, I guess I’d pick 2 that interest me most, probably Genesis and Revelations.

I’m just a Jr. Missionary and haven’t received my baptismal badge yet so you must wait for the Sr. Missionary, Mr. Roman Catholic to perforn this ritual. 😉

Regardless, get that pit dug and throw that piggy in there because as you know, it will have 10 hours to cook in the hot lava rocks. Don’t forget the seaweed to keep that meat moist and tender. And oh yeah, lots of salt & pepper! 😃

Just blow the horn when dinner is served! 😛
 
Tradition tells us that King Ezana of Axum was converted by six shipwrecked Syrian monks. Ethiopia is not an island, of course, but whatever they had with them must’ve been good enough, so I’ll take some of that, please. (Faith. Lots and lots of faith.)

Yes you´re right, only about 65 healings are confirmed by the church. But that doesn´t mean only 65 healings happened, the fact of the matter is that the Church only investigated 65. Miracles however happen all the time in Lourdes, but the Church can´t just investigate all of them. We know there are many hoaxes behind bleeding Mary statues and others, so I personally believe this is the reason why the Church stopped investigating further. My opinion: I think they did the right thing, 65 unexplained events is enough for any human to convert to the True Faith.

It´s still scientific support, though. That´s what matters to me, if science doesn´t have any explanation and everything else points to a Supernatual deity then I can without a shadow of a doubt make up my mind by accepting the Catholic Church and Her teachings.

Well I was never an atheist, but I do question my faith. Because I do take it seriously and I wouldnt waste my life by accepting a religion all because its family tradition. Heck if Catholiscm didn´t make so much sense I would convert to Islam right now because…❤️:blushing:

If I meet with any Natives, I would need to keep it simple.

The Natives and I would enjoy roast pig, as we are not Jewish.

I would probably want to include one of the Dalai Lama’s books as a reminder that wisdom and Christianity are not mutually inclusive.
