Way to ignore the parts of the post that don’t give you ammo there.
You need a “tongue in cheek” detector. He was joking in an obvious (well obvious to most of us) attempt to tone down the rhetoric in this thread.

Thanks. That was my intent. Most of the rest of liberalsaved’s post was about her(his?) POV. I have every reason to respect and honor that. To do otherwise would undermine him(her?) as a person. I am sorry if I missed your gender in reading through posts lately.

She really did give me pasue to think about my own arrogance when it comes to imposing my tastes on others.

I still think Armeggedon rocks.

Great movie-I watched it the other night again. I can tell you a little of the inside story on its filming. I have a friend who worked in Public Relations for NASA for many, many years. She talked about when they filmed Apollo 13 what a gentlemen Tom Hanks was and how much she respected him. She said everyone at NASA was glad to see Willis leave when they were done with Armageddon-she refused to elaborate.

BTW-It is easy to come across as arogant in forums-i dont think you sounded arrogant at all but then i have been posting on the NET for 20 plus years. Takes a while to get used to this form of communication!

I can change sexes like a single cell organism…or something.

If I ever go off at you, it’s the stress talking. I do try and look at everything evenly. That said, I will continue to hold firm to only one point I consider fact about film: “A movie is not about what it is about, but about how it is about it.” This is why i ruffle when people say that just because a film contains a certain subject matter, it’s automatically propaganda for that subject matter.

Wow great way to put it! Although, even though I am a liberal like you are, you kind of remind me of me when I first joined the Forums. I’m still a teen, but I came here and was very selfrighteous, refusing to see other people’s beliefs, getting angry at people who felt homosexuality was wrong, very pro-choice. You’re not nearly as bad as I was, but I’ve learned that sarcasm and “clever” remarks ruffle feathers and take away from your very good points. If I speak more rationally and politely, I feel like I don’t antagonize people and they accept my point more openly. Same with the people here…I’m opposite on most positions but I now have more respect for Catholic positions and am almost pro-life. I guess what I’m trying to say is, while I totally agree with you, sometimes you seem condescending and it takes away from your effective arguing. 🙂

Sarcasm is something I do a lot. In the circles I run in, it’s almost a second language. So there’s no malice, really, I just kinda do it.

And I stole that quote from Ebert, which is why I quoted it, but didn’t steal the idea, that I do beleive in.

That makes no sense to me at all.

Let’s not see this as a failure for gay movies, rather a stepping stone!
