Hello Freshman88,

The biggest difference I see in your argument is the fact those who serve our country are protecting from a violence being used.

This man, no matter how misguided, was not being violent, that I can see.

Disrupting the mass is indeed a very violent and daring act. I could not stomach such an act for more than a second.

Vengeance is not ours. Being stupid, arrogant or otherwise obnoxious is not being violent. The congregation did the right thing in the eyes of our Lord…in my opinion.

Remember what our Lord told Peter when he drew his sword as the guards went to arrest him in the garden?

Anyway, this is a problem the creeps up again and again in today’s modern Church.

I’m not willing to debate pacificism. As far as I’m concerned, the decescion has been made.

Matthew 10:34 Nolite arbitrari quia venerim mittere pacem in terram non veni pacem mittere sed gladium

Well, I’m not American, so I wasn’t aware it was memorial day. Is memorial day like Remembrance day?

In any case, I would not be acting out of pride as you so pridefully insinuated. No, I would be acting out of love of God, the mass and His Church. Again as I said time and time again, I could not rest with my conscience if I just sat there, knowing I could do something about this.

Our faith certainly is not pacifist, one just needs to look to our past to be reassured that violence is offend the proper means.
I had to edit my prior post because I didn’t include a “not” in there. You must have hit reply before I did.

I’m not trying to insult you. I hope you know that. I’m not trying to “pridefully” insinuate anything. Our Church has waged war in the past. So what? Because we sacked cities and nations that means violence is okay? Doubtful.

Jesus told Peter to put away his sword. He told his most faithful disciples to not fight for him. If someone upsets the Mass that doesn’t mean violence is the answer. It means they need us to pray for them so they can find the path.

In my opinion, that is not what the Lord was referring too. A sword cuts or splits. He immediately went on to talk about splitting families and those who love other people more than loving him. He plainly states who the enemies are if you continue to read the following verses.

Mat 10:34 Do not think that I came to send peace upon earth: I came not to send peace, but the sword.
Mat 10:35 For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Mat 10:36 And a man’s enemies shall be they of his own household.
Mat 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me.
Mat 10:38 And he that taketh not up his cross, and followeth me, is not worthy of me.
Mat 10:39 He that findeth his life, shall lose it: and he that shall lose his life for me, shall find it.

May the peace of the Lord be with you.

100% behind Freshman88 in this one. The way that guy was ranting and raving, you’re darn right I’d have wanted him “escorted” out; it seems like it would’ve been only a matter of time before the guy parked himself in a pew and started tossing missals. As the mother of two young daughters, I’d be VERY concerned if this crazy–no matter how misguided–were in the vicinity of my babies.

Escorting out is different than using some old bouncer or linebacker skills to take a guy out. Violence wasn’t needed. If someone wanted to walk up to him and tell him to leave, I’m not disagreeing with that. Saying that first respone is to tackle him or put him in a hold, that I disagree with. And I’m the kind of guy who spars with people in the basement of the Knights of Columbus Hall here in Seattle. It’s not that I dislike a good fight, I just don’t want it to ever be our first response.

I never saw such hatred.
Curious…why do you call this hatred.

I ask this because in a day of age where Christians are accused of hating gays because we oppose gay marriage, I think we should be careful of overreaching this word…

However…crazy…yes.

OMGosh!
I live a hour away from PC.

I wonder if he does his “shows” at mosques and synagogues?🤷
His name is James Lyman.

The Church is St. Dominic’s in Panama City, Florida. This Church is only a few minutes away from Tyndall Air Force Base.

I did hear someone saying to get his license plate number in the video. I don’t know what happened to him for this incident.

I googled his name and found his website. He has it posted there, along with a lot more of his antics, like a trophy page. I watched a few of his videos. He attacks everyone. Even though he is a baptist preacher, he went onto the streets once across the street from another baptist group. They had a very huge argument across the street at each other…condemning each other to hell. He even uses his kids to help “evangelize” at these tirades. 🤷

I think the congregation handled the situation very well.

Just incase you missed it, I did make a statement of watching him closely.
Now if he made a violent move, I would think it right to subdue him only as necessary to constrain him until the authorities arrived. From what I saw, he was not there to commit violence other that disrupting the Mass.
There seems to be a different idea of use of force to contain a situation.

I worked in a prison for 3 years. Sometimes, it better to let someone like this guy blow some steam and just be ready to move. He in my opinion was feeding his ego and did not display a violent tendency.

I am not trying to make an argument out of this or towards anyone. I just think we need to practice putting our trust in the Lord…even if we have to keep our eyes elsewhere, like on this guy in the video.

While he might appear to be crazy, I don’t think he’s insane. 😉

BTW, I live an hour away from PC…to the East. 👍 I love stopping by the Catholic bookstore at St. Dominic’s. I was there yesterday as a matter of fact.

You should see his video where he “communicates” to baptists of another church than his. The two groups are each on a street corner across the street from each other. He’s the same way to them, only it took two videos to capture it all. It’s either his way or you’re going to hell. 🤷

Can you post the link?

no he’s not insane. he was just overflowing with faith to have the guts to invade a catholic church.
Faith? More like bigheadedness. I’m one of the YouTube users who argued with him on that vid and believe me, the guy’s a total… I just can’t say it here. He went as far as to insult my family. He doesn’t address any argument at all and just prefers to dance around looking for other things to attack. Like the way he called me a ‘wicked sinner’ because he saw all the anime stuff I had on my Favorites section. And even when I decided to debate with him on that area, he still fails and continues shouting the same lunacy over and over again.

In the end, he lost it and had blocked me.

And that’s not just the only vid he’s got. There’s another one that’s probably ten times more offensive. Personally, I don’t understand why YouTube allows such garbage. I thought they had a hate-speech policy.
