Crazy Preacher Disrupts Catholic Mass

Escorting someone out is fine, but I still think the congregation did the right thing.

I never said I would do the right thing, just what I am compelled to do. Such an invasion is an injustice and I feel compelled to correct injustice. Such a person as I saw on the video could just as easily been crazy enough to start shooting, as far as anyone knows. I would get him out ASAP, just in case his behavior had a darker side, even if I had to use more vigorous force. There are usually children present and their safety must be preserved.

I agree… injustice is something I absolutely have little patience for. Personally, should he have actually done something violent, I would’ve walked past him and dealt a karate chop to his neck. That would’ve knocked him out before he could’ve done anything serious.

I think parishes should start hiring security guards or at least hire people to keep an eye on who gets inside. I would’ve signed up for sure.

This self-appointed preacher has many videos on his website. One thing they all have in common is that they focus on him. It is clear after watching a few that the website and these antics exist only to feed the ego of a man who lacks the audience he craves. There is one in which he confronts the Fred Phelps family religion across the street. It is amazing that they both do nothing but yell at each other and not once does anyone listen. It was hilarious, until I noticed a small child in a stroller. At that point I realized that they were indoctrinating their families in hatred.

I found the man’s behavior disturbing - almost like he was filled with a spirit that was not from God. It was a hateful spirit, although I’m sure he thought he was doing God a favor. It’s downright embarassing to do something like this.

I loved it when the parishioners got up and started singing because you know what? That spirit of humility and worship of God was stifling the hateful spirit in this man. I would have personally wanted to show him the door, peacefully or not.

But I think at the end of the day, the parishioners did the right thing (and the priest).

I sympathize with the parishioners and wish I could hug them and hold hands in solidarity with them as my brothers and sisters.

I dialogued with the guy. I told him I was very proud of the congregation. Their response to him was exemplary. They demonstrated christian virtue. That the only emotion he was able to move in them was pity.

That angered him eneogh to write back; . Pity!, They took me to court! Then other posters jumped on that pointing out incongruities in what he had been saying about the scene.

If you force him into ad hominem’s for long eneogh he just doesn’t allow you to post anymore and like a man on stage or something he say’s 'look folks another catholic running from the truth.

Believe me there are few people who don’t see through this guy.
He even gets protestants and catholics to bat for the same team…

oh…and what really got me about the guy was he was wearing a Priests collar. What a disgrace.

The worst thing by far is how the church hid it for decades. I am conceding that it happens everywhere.

You’ll have to take my word for this. But my wife is a former Fundamental Evangelical Christian and she has a message for you…

That is horse hocky as Colonel Potter used to say on MASH. Our fundamentalist church was equally worst than Catholicism. The most recent scandals were with women from our former ecclesial community. The Church of Christ.

However, I will not let our clergy off the hook that easy. Having been a victim, I left in deep pain and now come back seeking peace with my monsters. I can vouch that the “bad” priests I knew are laicized now. It also seems there are a lot more humble faces these days casting shadows in our parishes. The crimes of those that have abused are being counted and worked through. Shame of the Bishops, priests and deacons for hiding it. But there is nothing new under the son. The clergy scandal in part helped me open up to return. Clericalism needed to be “adjusted” to one of humility. That is why I prefer to see married priests and priests who take vows of poverty. I’m not fond of diocesan priests. Priests are not to get so close that they are too close to anyone. It helps them build up a closer relationship with the Holy Spirit. Personally I would like to see the discipline of celibacy lifted a bit.

The Miles Christi retreats are based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. Very Catholic, very reverent, silent retreats, very traditional theology. Mass, Benediction every day. Lots of work,not a vacation, but it’s only been two days since my retreat and I feel my life changing!

I think the next set of Miles Christi retreats is in October here. But there are frequent retreats of other types at Holy Name. The facilities are nice, as retreat houses go. It’s in a lovely part of town with tall Texas white pines.

I would be glad to correspond, answer questions, help with directions, etc. Just PM me. The retreat house is in the area of Houston where I lived as a child.

p.s…There is also the Cenacle retreat house. I have never been there, but you can find them online. There’s a retreat house down here near me, but unless she’s in the Clear Lake area, she would probably think it was way too far.

I’ve been sitting here for the past 30 minutes watching some of those videos. I probably watched 5 different ones (didn’t watch the whole length of them) and I felt a deep sorrow for these situations and my spirit was troubled.

Believe it or not, I’m very sensitive to these kinds of confrontations. I don’t like them. I don’t enjoy confrontations at all. I actually believe that many of these street preachers are brainwashed. All they know how to do is spout verses.

Did you notice that they always label people as “x” or “y”. That’s demonization. It dehumanizes them into monsters. Reminds me of the brainwashing of Hitler. Once a group of people are labeled as being unworthy then it’s a short step to treating them like animals and lower forms of life.

I admit that I’m rough with some people and condemned them even publicly here. May I never forget that Christ loves all people, even those who oppose Him. May I be wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove.

Mystic, yep, I noticed the x,y kind of thinking. It’s emotion based reasoning. It’s a measure of seperation of soul from body IMO. A measure of deadness. I call it all or nothing thinking , some call it black and white thinking. ‘Us’ and ‘them’.

The sad thing is, that part of himself, he denies. The long shadow of himself is utterly rejected. Unbeknownst to him it makes it’self known in the face of those he abuses. It’s not us he is abusing, he abuses the shadow of himself that is cast on the contours of others in a desperate attempt to be accepted.

did you know that 44% of all statistics are made up on the spot? I’ve seen and heard every spin possible that the RCC has thrown at this atrocity after the fact of course and am left in stitches over it all. You only add to the premise.

What is really sad, is the fact that you believe these sins are confined to the Catholic Church. How naive.

A couple of years ago, some young people (18-24, I think) went into a Catholic Church in North Alabama and flipped over the altar. It was horrible.

What is a true miracle is that as crazy as this world is, more of this junk does not happen
