How do you reconcile that view with the activity of angels in the Bible?
I don’t know but I do know you have evaded the question! How do you reconcile that view with the activity of angels in the Bible? How does God act in the world? Or doesn’t He?
What do you believe in that you haven’t met?
Code:
Depending on how you define "met," nothing.

Have you met God, angels, saints or souls?

Good question. The Vatican and the Center for Theology and the Natural Sciences sponsored a decade of conferences on this very question of divine action, and I refer you to the five volumes proceeding from that conference series:

Maybe he meant his Question was answered with EDucation?

I really can’t understand the word salad stuff that goes on here so I am guessing.
QED = Quod Erat Demonstrandum. “What was to be demonstrated”. It is placed at the end of mathematical and philosophical proofs to indicate that the proof is complete.

While some of the stuff we debate is debatable, I can’t understand why folk cling to the idea of the mind being a supernatural thingamajig when it’s so easily contradicted. Just put someone in an MRI scanner, have them think about anything they like, and watch the pretty pictures as the brain thinks. Give them specifics to think about and you can even work out which areas are involved in the processing. Clear and solid evidence that the mind is the brain.

In the past people may have used simplistic logic to say things like: God is immaterial; God has a mind; we are made in God’s image; ergo our mind is immaterial. But as with believing rain comes from an ocean in the sky or the Earth is flat it’s comprehensively wrong from what we now know.

I suspect no one still holds that old belief anyway – to avoid outright contradiction in a scientific age it’s replaced by a new pseudo-scientific belief that the brain is some kind of network interface to the immaterial. The most complicated object in the known universe relegated to being a wi-fi dongle . And they’ll say prove it’s not like that, as if there’s any merit in holding on to unlikely beliefs just for the sake of it.

Dualism was always sitting on the fence anyway, frightened to leap. Jump bro, set yourself free!

Actually, the Theory of Evolution, contradicts the Bible, which is the Holy Word of God, so either God LIED, or Evolution is just a theory, that was created to give man another reason not to believe in a Creator. Evolution has many more holes in its theory, than Creation, and although it is the more widely held of the two, that does not make it truth. The reason Evolution is more commonly believed than Creation, is simple, it is taught in our schools!! Adolf Hitler once said “Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it”, “He alone, who owns the youth, gains the future.”, and “How fortunate for leaders that men do not think.” Evolutionists knew that if they could get Evolution taught in schools, most people would accept it as fact, and not bother to research it!! I can post arguments for and against Evolution, and Young Earth Creation, if you want.

Also there is much more evidence for Young Earth Creation, than the Evolutionary community likes to accept!!

Incorrect. The Theory of Evolution contradicts some interpretations of the Bible. There are other interpretations, such as Theistic Evolution, which it does not contradict.
Adolf Hitler once said…
Godwin’s Law. You lose the thread. Are you aware that “On the Origin of Species” was on the list of books the Nazis burned? They didn’t like the implication that Jews and Germans were the same species.

There is much more evidence for evolution than the YEC community likes to publish on its websites. When was the last time you went to Google Scholar and searched on “Evolution”? I get over 3 million hits.

This thread has strayed from being charitable. Perhaps this is a topic that can bring that out in people.

If it’s comprehensively wrong God is redundant!
How so? Evidence can challenge our understanding of God but it can’t challenge God.
Why do you differentiate yourself from your brain?Since - according to you - the mind is the brain it would be more accurate to refer to “the brain located in Spain that claims to be a Baptist and denies that persons exist!”
Why do you differentiate yourself from your big toe? Because words have meanings . All the evidence is that consciousness arises from matter and from matter alone, but if you have any evidence to the contrary let’s hear it. 🍿
The most unlikely belief of all is that the lump of tissue in the skull described as the brain has hindsight, insight and foresight, given that electrical currents have no ideas, let alone the foggiest notion that they exist…
It may feel unlikely to you but evidence is evidence whether you like it or not.

Looking at your What are you? thread and the How does the Soul “Work”? thread, you don’t exactly have the whole world on your side. Society will always use evidence to challenge old worldviews, irrespective of what we might want personally.
Ironically “you” have eliminated your self and have no choice as to what to believe or how to behave! The brain in Spain stays on the biochemical plain - whether it likes it or not… 🙂
Ah, the old argument from poetry. But you’re correct - “You” is located in “your” body not in a supernatural thingamajig.
The time comes for rhyme when they cannot climb from the primeval slime… 😉

tony is always charitable, and I likewise enjoy charitably getting up his nose. 😃

But yes, you’re right, creationism doesn’t get the bills paid or reduce the crime figures yet it does cause some royal bust ups.

Ah, the old argument from poetry.

Rolling stones gather neither moss nor slime. 😛
“Argument from poetry.” I love it!

I’m envious because I did so poorly in Argument from Poetry 101.

You guys are a barrel of laughs. 😃

You have rejected all the evidence for God!

Why do you differentiate yourself from your big toe? Because words have meanings

That is not the reason! The reason is that the big toe is not a person who makes decisions.
All the evidence is that consciousness arises from matter and from matter alone, but if you have any evidence to the contrary let’s hear it.
There is no evidence that consciousness arises from matter because no one has ever explained how it could have occurred, let alone how it did occur.
The most unlikely belief of all is that the lump of tissue in the skull described as the brain has hindsight, insight and foresight, given that electrical currents have no ideas, let alone the foggiest notion that they exist…
It may feel unlikely to you but evidence is evidence whether you like it or not.

It doesn’t feel unlikely it is unlikely because there is not one jot of evidence that the brain** knows and understands **what it is doing.
Looking at your What are you? thread and the How does the Soul “Work”? thread, you don’t exactly have the whole world on your side. Society will always use evidence to challenge old worldviews, irrespective of what we might want personally.
Numbers prove nothing.

Ah, the old argument from poetry.

No a logical argument because there is no self on the biochemical plain. It does not appear in any scientific papers, treatises or publications.
But you’re correct - “You” is located in “your” body not in a supernatural thingamajig.
Precisely where is it located and how would you recognise it?
The time comes for rhyme when they cannot climb from the primeval slime… 😉

Rolling stones gather neither moss nor slime.
Precisely! They cause disasters not development…
