In a groundbreaking report from the Vatican today, Pope Francis announced that Catholics (women especially) are sad because there are not enough priests or even Catholic laymen who grow righteous beards, much less long hair. “This is a CRISIS,” reported the supreme pontiff, who is contending with both baldness and old age. “We are called to imitate Jesus Christ in all ways. Where are our 33-year old bearded men with long hair who camp outdoors frequently and are willing to walk everywhere?”

Right. Too many people would immediately start in either to extol Pope Francis (“Finally, the Pope addresses what is really wrong, unlike all other popes before him”) or to excoriate him, (“See, this is what I’m talking about! He goes on and on about the environment, now he’s trying to make men LOOK hippy-dippy too!”)

And while some of that might be amusing, it gets old FAST. Let’s get this to Casual Discussion where we can have some laughs and KNOW it’s all in fun.

Great picture of Jesus…did you do that? And is that Mary Magdalene?

:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: The art of Jesus is by the artist Jose Luis Castrillo

And yes the second one is of Mary Magdalene and the artist is Fr William McNichols

They are both Catholic artists! Attribution is holy 😁 :point_up_2:t2::ok_hand:t2::pray:t2:

We should have an ongoing thread for posting high-res beautiful Catholic art. 🎨🖌️

Actually beards are very popular along with man buns. Would Jesus have a " righteous" man bun?

Is this truthful ? IS there a link? if not, it is against CAF rules to criticise and make fun of the Holy See

It is not truthful. It is a well-meant (not mean-spirited) attempt at humor, and is probably not against the rules within the Casual Discussion category.

it should be, it disrespects the Holy See and is not truthful But thats just me

I take greater offense at the use of images of Jesus and the saints in the original post. As for myself, I will let it go.

If you (or anyone else?) find this topic inappropriate, you could send a message to the moderator using the flagging system, tell the moderator your concerns, and let him/her decide how to handle it.

What in the world…? What exactly are you offended by?

That is just ridiculous. I am not mocking our Lord or his saints and I never would. Seriously. It’s humor about long hair and beards disappearing as a visual image of Christian men in the church in recent history.

Mind you, I am not particularly strict, traditional, orthodox, etc., and I do have a sense of humor, but I am, shall we say, rather circumspect about my own references to Jesus, the Bible, and prayer. Your mileage may vary.
