I often ask myself where people learnt to use the word “ heretic “, heresy “ , “ heretical” as if it was normal …and all of them at once! Gotta have a knack for it…
It sounds so outdated. And weird.
Unless of course , within history lessons.
Do you really speak like that out of here?
Seriously? In Catholic circles?
In my past dealings with them, heretics have caused grave problems, not least in public order as the rile up the population. They lead people astray and force one to waste precious resources countering all their nonsense. I have found it best practice to quickly track down heretics with a competent inquisitor and have them burnt at the stake promptly. Much better for all involved. 😉

You may wish to rethink your position on the ability of the Holy Father to re-write Scripture and abrogate the perennial Teachings of the Church.

Have a Blessed and Virtuous Lenten season.

You have a wonderful Lent as well…my prayers with you.

My prayers will also be supporting the Holy Father in hope that God continues to bless him with the strength and fortitude necessary to withstand the attacks from within and outside the Church.

PS - the Pope hasn’t rewritten Scripture or perennial teachings. You may wish to rethink your position on the ability of the Pope to teach and develop doctrine if necessary in the exercise of his office as Vicar of Christ on Earth.

PSS - The Church’s teaching tradition is a living tradition…always has been.

The Holy Father needs our prayers for protection against those who attack and seek to undermine his authority.

I believe this Papacy has been marred by poor leadership and with inaction against the corruption and complacency that has taken root. I don’t see an overwhelming assault of dissenters seeking to undermine the Pope or his authority.

Rather I see large amounts of laity fed up with and disgusted by the current state of our Church as a whole. Ambiguity, deceptive actions, priests that are purposely teaching contradictory beliefs.

We are in a bad situation and nothing on the current horizon seems promising, other than a growing number who are calling for clarity and a return to authentic Catholic Teachings!

Here is a relevant article from a different thread that underscores a point I have been trying to make on this thread. (Preface: I absolutely support the Holy Father and defend his authority on matters of faith and morals)

While some on this thread are quite grounded in the teachings of the Church and feel they understand Pope Francis’s positions with clarity, here is a Catholic public figure who doesn’t. Certainly NY State Sen Gaughran doesn’t get it, and given is public position, his opinions lead malformed Catholics astray. Sen Gaughran is exactly why the Church needs crystal clarity on teaching, and I applaud Msr Camp for his action taken.

Gaughran went on to accuse the group of hypocrisy, saying his views align with Pope Francis.

“In my case, it seems such selective requirements were arbitrarily applied. In recent years, other members of Ancient Order of Hibernians, some of whom while serving in public office, have spoken or voted in direct contradiction to the teachings and formal positions of the Catholic Church. Some differed on the matter of the death penalty, the threat of Climate Change, or President Trump’s policy of separating young children from their parents at the border. While my views on these issues — and many others — align with those of Pope Francis, some members have vocally opposed the positions of His Holiness. Respectfully, I must ask: Will these members receive a letter similar to the one I did?”

Amen brother.
