Dr. Fauci explained he took his mask down to drink.
I think that is reasonable.

Heck. I support him for taking an unproven mask down for no reason at all.

The problem of course is all the fake running around with your hair on fire pretending it is life or death unless you are masked up, but not living like that yourself when you are next to a buddy of yours (Fauci’s wife, on the other side of him is an exception).

The fact is, is that there is absolutely no evidence that masks save lives.

Then just say that.
Just say the truth.

Just say, . . . .
You know. We don’t know for sure if this mask stuff will save a life.

But it kind of makes sense that it might protect someone else.

And with N95 masks it probably would even help YOU wearing it.

But since this is all conjecture so far, we do not want to abuse Government to FORCE these issues

Yet since we think this may be beneficial, we want to undertake a public relations campaign to URGE you to do so.

And we ask businesses to do so too.

But if nobody does, we are not going to get bent out of shape over something like our conjecture.

And if you want to hole up in your home that’s fine. And if you want to wear a mask in your car alone or in your home alone, you can even go as far as that too!
That would be reasonable for what we have.

But no.

The left can’t leave it at that.

They WANT a crisis to be worse than that crisis.
Or they want crisises when other times there aren’t any.

It is bogus.

Less and less people are falling for this fake routine.

Why is it so hard to believe wearing a mask would prevent spreading an airborne virus?

Because most people wear them wrong.
And most masks do not filter small enough to prevent viruses from going through.

Droplets may be stopped, but that doesn’t stop a virus that is many times smaller.

Leaf. There is no evidence that mask saves lives.

Read your own article.

They even admit there are “strands” of evidence.

Look at those “strands”.
None of it says what you are trying to get it to say.

And appealing to in vitro studies!!?? After all your complaining about that with hydroxychloroquine??

Really Leaf. I am surprised you posted that.

Look. I am not saying there won’t be evidence.

I am not saying don’t wear a mask.

But please (bureaucrats) don’t attempt to fool me and pretend there is scientific evidence that masks save lives.

It just isn’t going to work.

It is not hard to believe.

What is hard to believe is the way this is being presented.

There are lots of things you might think makes sense, but later when good studies become available inadequate mandates or suggestions turned out to be harmful or deleterious.

I think masks are fine properly used and changed frequently.

But I also think the pretence that it is a slam dunk that lives are being saved is unfounded.

You don’t do Government FORCE against its citizens
based upon partially or unfounded “makes-sense-to-meisms”.

Just say the truth, and urge (but not force) the people to go with that. But tell em the truth. Tell the people these are educated guesses right now.

Dr.Fauci was referring to indoor pubic gatherings, not outdoors.
If you really think that, I think he ought to be condemning California’s draconian outdoor mask policies.

Don’t you?

Besides. The Washington D.C. “law” likewise makes no such distinction between indoors and outdoors.
. . . This Order consolidates, clarifies, and extends requirements related to wearing masks indoors and outdoors in the District of Columbia and provides enforcement mechanisms for these requirements.

(I agree. If the guy is drinking, it would be an exemption. Even if the water bottle is sitting there, the whole game.)

And since Vice President Pence was not at a “public” gathering at Mayo a couple months ago, I think CNN etc. should be criticized too for all that “mischievous” carping about Pence NOT wearing a mask at Mayo at a non-public gathering.

Correlation is not causation.
Let’s look closely at how vz71 is misusing this principle of statistics. When we say that correlation is not causation we are pointing out that when a correlation exists, the true nature of the causation underlying that correlation may not be properly understood. If A and B are strongly correlated, it might be the case that A causes B or that B causes A. Or it might be the case that both A and B are the result of some third cause, C. We need to examine external factors to sort it out. But the use of correlation to establish causation is a long-standing and well-accepted principle in science. Most great scientific discoveries of causation are based on correlation. For example, the knowledge that tobacco smoking causes heart disease and lung cancer was established and acted upon based solely on a statistical correlation long before the actual mechanisms of that causation were discovered. So it is with many scientific discoveries. Correlation does mean causation when properly examined. For instance, instead of smoking causing cancer, maybe having a propensity to contract cancer causes one to want to smoke. Is that possible? Yes. Is it reasonable? No. Once we have eliminated all the other potential ways in which a correlation implies a causation, we do in fact accept as scientifically sound that correlation in those cases is causation, as far as scientific principles go.

In each study you list, there is no effort at all towards other potential factors.
They highlight masks and go no further.
At least in instances where they rely on correlation.

It is funny how the very same people who demand absolute proof that masks work are the same people who grasp at the flimsiest of evidence that hydroxychloroquine works against covid-19.
It’s the other way around Leaf.

I am not against masks. (Readers can see my (name removed by moderator)ut on masks here.)

I am against Government FORCE for something unproven.

Just like I would be against Government FORCING hydroxychloroquine on us.

Just like I am against leftist attempts by Government FORCE to keep hydroxychloroquine AWAY from physicians who may want to utilize it in their patients (that you thought was a “SENSIBLE” idea [see that right here] in Ohio until common sense prevailed within hours).

(Please don’t tell me you are “open” to the science after I saw that.)

Just like I would be against Government FORCE used to OUTLAW masks and not let the people make their own determinations in such a realm.

My ideas are consistent.

.

For readers that want to see my ideas regarding the Ohio abuse of GOVERMENT FORCE
regarding the hydroxychloroquine debacle,
you can see that here and here.

The national leftists (like Biden) love this sort of GOVERNMENT FORCE paradigm (the Government nanny state forcing decisions for the “common folk”).

I am OK with Dr Fauci as a doctor, but he will still be the last guy picked for my baseball team. My little sister threw better than than when she was 10.
