Crosses during lent

i keep posting this but it never shows up

simple question:

are all of the crosses in Church supposed to be covered everyday during Lent or just on Good Friday and Holy Saturday?

At my local church, they cover all statues and the crucifix above the altar in purple cloth.

here is father Z on this topic, he says no the cross shouldn’t be taken down during lent. He mentions there are plenary indulgences that are done only in front of the Crucifix during friday’s of Lent. While I can’t explain it like father Z can It doesn’t make sense that you should remove the cross. It is the ultimate sacrifice, in mass we participate in that eternal sacrifice, which was done on the cross. Taking that down would detract from this sacrifice. Again I can’t think of a theological reason why you shouldn’t take down the cross but the fact that there are plenary indulgences during lent that must be done in front of the cross, it would make no sense to take it down or cover it up.

There’s no real ruling either way, but a lot of churches cover up sacred images during the Passiontide (Fifth Sunday of Lent - Holy Saturday).
 
The US Conference of Catholic Bishops has not decided to observe this custom, therefore, it is not permitted in the United States. The April 1995 Committee on Liturgy Newsletter (31:14) explains, “The National Conference of Catholic Bishops has never voted to continue the practice of covering crosses and images and so the practice, in accord with the rubric of the Sacramentary, has not been permissible for the past twenty five years. Individual parishes are not free to reinstate the practice on their own”.

its very clear in all dioceses of the united states IT IS NOT PERMITTED to cover crosses in your parish church from the passion tide to good friday.

oh haha I noticed that the parish can do it from holy thursady to holy saturday, so I was mistaken too.
 
At my church, they wrap the Crosses with purple, than from Good Friday to Saterday, than the Cross is cover, to morn the suffering and Death of Jesus, at the beinging of Easter Sunday Morning they take those purple covers off before the people come in and Wrap the Crosses in white,that Jesus has risen.
