CRS... Vice President in Same-Sex Civil Marriage

While it’s embarrassing, his job has to do with relief. Should those of us that are Catholics and own business avoid hiring sinners? Should your boss avoid hiring sinners?
As I recall those relief organizations he was funding were also promoting contraception.

The organization brings relief, in the name of the Church. It’s not a generic relief service. It is a specifically Catholic one. That’s what the “C” in their name stand for. 😉

Yes. Any of us who are Catholics and who identify our businesses **as Catholic businesses **should avoid hiring people who **publicly **ridicule, with words and actions, the tenants of our faith. And yes, if I worked for a Catholic company or agency, I would expect my boss to avoid hiring anyone who is publicly sinning in a way that mocks the faith or that undermines the mission of the organization.

A priest that molests kids is a sinner, and yet the RCC isn’t supposed to just leave them in a parish and say, “Well, their job description involves saving souls and they’re doing good work, and we shouldn’t avoid sinners”.

We reach out to sinners to convert. We don’t say, “Good job sinning, please represent us to the world while talking about how awesome your sin is.”

It would seem that Corki is describing a specific situation.

One that a business that is identified as a Catholic Business; i.e. Catholic Relief Services, should not hire a public sinner who in non-repentant and persists in their sin and claims that there is nothing wrong with their sin but in fact they claim that their sin is a “good.”

I think that sums it up. :o

If the priest gets up and gives sermons about how sin is awesome and you should totally do it all the time and forget what the Church says?

Then, yes. That priest should be.

You asked about priests and I gave you an answer to your question using the example of a particular priest. 🤷

Oh ok as long as we got it straight that he did bring priests into the conversation. No the VP is not a priest (I think anyway) though lay people can be excommunicated also as we saw with that woman who attempted to be ordained in Kansas City.

Seems to me the employee of CRS was doing the same actions as the priest and woman were doing. They are not excommunicated for having the tendency to sin or for being sinners but publicly promoting against teachings of the Catholic Church that came from Christ and in the process leading others to sin. If/when CRS takes any discipline action in the case of the employee that would be why.

I’m just wondering if it is all that simple in this day for an organization to take disciplinary action. Revenge and greed tend to bring on lawsuits in such cases. They have to be careful how they proceed.

I did not bring priests into the conversation and I can prove that but instead will leave you to your ignorance.
