Cuban Dissidents Removed From Catholic Church
March 16, 2012
Cuban dissidents were removed from a Roman Catholic church they occupied for two days, a church spokesman said. The 13 dissidents demanded that Pope Benedict XVI air a list of their grievances during his upcoming trip to Cuba.

Why has church hostaging become so popular? It seems the term ‘Occupy’ has turned into a church ‘occupy’. Wow, are we into another crusade? Everywhere the Pope travels seems like a primary Catholic Church has to have been taken hostage before His Eminence’s arrival. Scary.
:doh2:

I read the thread title and all I could think was that some good bishop somewhere found some backbone and issued a raft of excommunications 🙂 .

But sadly, no, it’s simply more governmental oppression 😦

It would be awesome if someone got excommunicated! Maybe Rudy Giuliani? Didn’t the old Archbishop of New York try to ban him from receiving communion due to his stance on abortion? He should have just excommunicated him!!!

Not what it sounds like to me:
“Cardinal Jaime Ortega addressed the competent authorities to invite the occupiers to abandon the sanctuary,” the statement said.
. . .
The occupation clearly angered Catholic officials, who have been friendly to and mediated for other dissidents in the past.
. . .
The church had firmly rejected the protest, which spokesman Orlando Marquez termed “illegitimate” and “disrespectful.” Even prominent Cuban dissidents questioned whether disrupting a house of worship was an appropriate tactic.

What possible could there be reason that would lead a person to believe they can pose as the hungry then turn into a militant for political gain. Jesus preached against that. In both ways, acting as wolves and fornicators.
