When Catholics start teaching that truth is uncharitable, we are in big trouble.

I suggest watching episodes of the Church militant.

It is this weak feel-good teaching that is responsible for so much bad in the Church, including the priest scandal.

We need to stand string. Jesus told us how to deal with false prophets. He showed us what to do with those who desecrate the temple.

Bishop Sheen was very strong against this feel good doctrine. He once yelled at a man to get out of the parish for this very thing.

We must stand strong and never, ever ever be afraid to tell the truth and stand against false teachings.

St. Polycarp of Smyrna

“Everyone who does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is an antichrist [1 John 4:2-3, 2 John 7]; whoever does not confess the testimony of the cross is of the devil; and whoever perverts the sayings of the Lord for his own desires, and says that there is neither resurrection nor judgment, such a one is the firstborn of Satan” (Letter to the Philadelphians 7:1 [A.D. 135]).

One of y’all wanna tell St. Polycarp to be more charitable for me?

You are presenting a false dilemma. No one here is against stating the truth. We object to manner in which it is presented. There is no need to chide people with comments like " I know you’re afraid of me". Why can’t you just present your argument and leave it at that? If someone refuses to respond to your post we can all draw our own conclusions as to why. And I take offense at your characterization of my arguments as “weak feel-good teaching”. Read my posts. I have never waivered in presenting the truth and defending the doctrines and beliefs of the Catholic Church to the best of my ability.

Mormon threads were some of the most active of all on the non-Catholic Religions forum. Today we have two, and exactly zero Mormons participating. How are you going to give them the truth if they aren’t around to read it?

There is a reason why Francis of Assisi was given the profound priviledge of the stigmata. It was because of his humility, not his arrogance.

He exemplified Christ. Christ the Humble. Not Christ the self-righteous or the proud…

Franciscan spirituality, in all of it’s Christ-like mirror, is worthy of our attention. 🙂

As they, and I, were taught…when you can’t answer…leave.

I am not here to teach them truth. I am here to correct error. And I do. Funny…you seem free to characterize my style while taking offense as to how I characterize yours. I see what I see.

Stand strong.

did you chastise St. Polycarp, for me?

Yes…there is room for the meek, like St. Francis…there is room for the bold and aggressive, like St. peter and St. Polycarp, and even Jesus.

The Bible says “put on the full armor…” why use a battle metaphor? Why not say, “put on the sheep skins and carry a blade of grass”?

Hmmmmm…

why would Mormons even bother when those threads lack Christian charity. 🤷

It’s a waste of anyone’s time or attention when the foundation is deprived of the very essence of God’s love…

lol…

Truth is truth. All-embracing is dangerous,

I will stick with Catholic Teaching as to false prophets…

you can all-embrace them.

I will shine the light on false teaching.

You can sing kumbaya

We both live happy…

be blessed

St. Polycarp is still waiting…

St.Peter is too…

you do like those guys…right?

Now…maybe the chastizers can let this thread get back to Cumorah.

I keep hoping a Mormon will respond

Mormons have plenty of valid reason to walk away from CAF.
And that’s a shame. A crying shame.

Because it is only when they engage in dialogue that we can plant seeds and evangelize.

When they walk away because of uncharitable posters, they are lost to us.
Biggest reason is lack of charity in discussions.
Im surprised that those who stick around, do. I wouldnt.

and lest we forget…

Why hasn’t the LDS Church excavated the Hill Cumorah in New York? The Book of Mormon is clear that great battles occurred on Hill Cumorah. Mormons have spent a ton of money excavting in Central and South America where the hoped to find Book of Mormon lands but have spent ZERO excavating the ONE PLACE they know is from the Book of Mormon.

Thousands and thousands of people died in these battles at Hill Cumorah. Excavating could actually prove Joseph Smith correct…give the Book of Mormon some credibility…

So why no excavation?

Apostle Orson Pratt was clear that those great battles occurred at Hill Cunorah in New York…
Journal of Discourses
Volume 14; Orson Pratt; 1872/02/11411
The great and last battle, in which several hundred thousand Nephites perished was on the hill Cumorah, the same hill from which the plates were taken by Joseph Smith, the boy about whom I spoke to you the other evening."

Prophet Joseph Fielding Smith admitted that Hill Cumorah in New York was the exact same hill where the battles were fought in the Book of Mormon…he even says Joseph Smith himself said they were the same hill…
"it must be conceded that this description fits perfectly the land of Cumorah
in New York, as it has been known since the visitation of Moroni to the
Prophet Joseph Smith, for the hill is in the proximity of the Great Lakes
and also in the land of many rivers and fountains. Moreover, the Prophet
Joseph Smith himself is on record, definitely declaring the present hill
called Cumorah to be the exact hill spoken of in the Book of Mormon.(Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of
Salvation , Vol.3, Bookcraft, 1956, pp. 232-243)

So why no excavation? They own the land…excavating it would be easy.

Could it be because they KNOW the Book of Mormon is fake and that they will find nothing there?

Why else would they refuse to excavate there?

the sad thing is, I feel a total lack of charity from a few of you…

but its ok when yall do it…

right?
