So, I am wondering – will the new heaven and new earth be our entire universe reconstituted, or will it all be an entirely new creation, perhaps radically different than God’s original creation prior to the fall?

Will there be creatures on the new earth that never before existed on this one, or all of earth’s creatures that existed throughout its history be reconstituted and made new again?

Perhaps both?

I know that one of the Psalms assures us that God will preserve the animals, so maybe the latter, perhaps with new creations added?

No one currently knows, of course, but I can’t help ponder what it all will finally be like.

As you say, we simply don’t know. But it’s certainly fun to conjecture about.

I’ve personally hoped for a long time that we’ll have the main planet, a reconstituted Earth, but also be able to explore the vast universe. I’m sure that building things won’t really be necessary on the New Earth, but part of me hopes that I’ll be able to design and build stuff.

As for the animals, I honestly think they’ll all be there. Everything we know, everything that’s existed, and everything that will exist. They might be on different planets, but I really do expect we’ll get to see them all. I want to go swimming with a Mosasaur XD

In the end though, we know that it’s going to be better than anything we can imagine, so it’s not like we’ll be disappointed, no matter what the answer to these questions.

I imagine a place where bees no longer sting and animals no longer bite, because those mechanisms were created for defense, and no need shall exist any longer for any creature to defend itself. No longer shall anything be attacked.

I also imagine a place where eating for nutrition won’t be necessary because we’ll be in a perpetual state of perfect health, but we will still have the option of eating for pleasure those food items that taste really good to us, and it won’t harm us, because enjoying flavors would be part of the complete happiness on the new earth.

There would be no problems with excessive consumption or addictions, so we won’t overeat when eating for pleasure, as many of us tend to do now. We shall behave moderately so we can enjoy everything.

And there won’t be any danger of depleting resources, either, as everything good will be infinitely abundant, and we won’t be wasteful on the new earth. And all that we use shall be replenished, and all of our needs shall be met. Better yet, perhaps we won’t NEED anything.

And we shall be reunited with all of our beloved pets, who God gave us as gifts while living in this realm, and reunited with all of our loved ones who made it to heaven.

And our color vision – while we are now limited to seeing only those colors in the visible spectrum, on the new earth, we shall be able to see into the ultraviolet and infrared areas with no harm to our eyes. And we shall find the regular color spectrum vastly expanded so we shall be able to see many more shades and tints and marvelous nuances of colors we currently can’t detect. And nobody will be colorblind, or blind, period.

These are some of the beautiful blessings I imagine we may experience on the new earth. And many, many more beyond our most exquisite imaginings or dreams.

perhaps radically different than God’s original creation
The original creation was perfect and good - I’d say God couldn’t improve it, but that could be construed as limiting God 🙂
