But, you know the British gave the Scots the kilt as a joke. The Scots haven’t got the joke yet.

I heard an Irish comedian awhile back on the radio,he talked about the terrible conditions here that the first convicts had to endure ,the heat, the snakes and then he said 'and you’re all here! You don’t have to you know, why would you want to!"
Something along those lines,it got me wondering 😁

Dredged from the heart of the peat big…

Possibly better in cold weather than hot 😓
I wonder how Edmundas and Rose are doing?
Have had about enough of the heat today…come on cool change…

Uh oh, I’ve been posting in the broader forums this evening… Hope I don’t get suspended for speaking my mind.

I just get so mad when people start throwing out gross accusations against public school teachers! 😠

Contrary to some people’s opinions, I am not a close relation to the antichrist just because I teach in the public schools.

Seriously, conservative Catholics need to stop having this knee-jerk reaction against the public schools! 😠

Those of us who teach as a service to Christ and His little ones have a hard enough job as it is, without being torn down by every politician and educational theorist with an ax to grind.

I need to go to bed. Reading through these stupid threads has made me into a real curmudgeon tonight.

I’ll be back tomorrow if I don’t get suspended. 👵🚬

Interesting. We call root beer and milk a Black Cow.
No, you have to add chocolate syrup to that to make a black cow.

OR… you mix Kahlúa, half-and-half, and cola. That’s the drink that’s referred to in the Steely Dan song “Black Cow”:

BTW, “half-and-half” is a dairy product that is half cream and half whole milk. You can use it in some recipes as a substitute for cream, or (more frequently) as a coffee creamer.

7.30 pm and the temp is still climbing. No bushfires today though, bonus! It was really hot in the choir loft this morning,

My balcony thermometer (shade temp) reached 52.3 C today at 2pm ! The temperatures here have been horrendous.

And that was in the shade…whew! Was it very humid?
My kitchen thermometer read 35C ,it is on the North wall though, hardy plank on the outside.
Quite humid…I would love a thunderstorm tomorrow so long as it actually rains…dry strikes are scary with so much fuel about.

A kiwi!
You guys have the best glaciers!

All those lightening strikes yesterday starting fires green fields…

I have never in my life seen such temperatures! Very humid here too. Yesterday, we had torrential afternoon rain. Places flooded that are not normally flooded. The North Island has experienced 11,323 lightning strikes yesterday. Late last year, driving home I experienced a lightning strike so close. It was ear-piercingly loud, bright and I could feel the static in the air. Too close for comfort.

I would worry about dry strikes too given the high temperatures drying everything out.

Are you always safe in a car during thunderstorms?
Being that close to a lightening strike would put the bristles up on my neck,if I had bristles 🙂
You’ve really had a show of nature .

My main worry was a strike to overhanging oak trees at the time. Didn’t want to be squished. This January weather is really out of sorts. Certainly not the run of the mill.
