Hey, thanks for the compliment.

On the grass thing. Even though California legalized it, I don’t do it. Well, maybe there was that week in the 60s.

Oh oh, too far back … we are pakaru !

That reminds me of the story from the Desert Fathers (I’m paraphrasing). Two monks traveling outside the monastery come upon an attractive woman unable to cross the river. One of the monks picks her up and carries her across. The other monk is scandalized, and broods over it as the two monks continue on their way. Finally, he asks his companion how he could have touched, much less carried that woman. The reply comes, “Are you still carrying that woman? I set her down a long time ago.”

Great retelling of the story! I’ve heard it before, but forgotten the ending.

I personally am veering to the Benedict Option, as I my kids are grown up and my following of events in Australian society tells me that we’re just on a one way street to destruction. I’ve taken to heart what James Dobson, of Focus on Family, said in 2009 in a remark which wasn’t meant to get publicity, where he observed that the the pro-life, pro-family forces, while they have had some wins since starting battle in the 70’s, have, over time, lost on every major issue. I don’t see any reversal, apart from a miracle. My only hope is the US, actually. You guys seem to have a bit of fight left in you. 🙂 Not that I actually know much about the Benedict Option, but to me it means withdrawing from political battles, and working on personal survival rather than prosperity in a culture which is lost. For a start, I’ve stopped following Australian news and sport, for the most part.
Thanks for the primer. I think this “cuteness” tendency comes from being around koalas.

I’ll see if I can get some government funding to research my hypothesis.

What was I just saying about cultural collapse?

I understand all California schools are supposed to teach the OK-ness of same sex marriage, etc. Is that accurate? That would be tough to deal with.

They thought , strangely, all 3 were broken. In reality the foal’s temp was too low to register. Sometimes the obvious answer isn’t that obvious!
I’m listening to a podcast right now called “The Message”. It’s amazing storytelling. themessagepodcast.com
I’m mentioning this because in the first episode, one of the characters gives the example of an investigator trying to find out everything about him. The investigator breaks into his house and looks at everything in the house, but keeps missing the box on the desk. The point is that the character is one of those who drinks the orange juice right out of the box, then puts the empty carton back in the fridge which the wife hates. That morning, the wife took the empty carton and put it on his work desk for him to see when he got home. A very important piece of information, that was missed because there was no context.

I had to watch the one video 3 times before I caught the 'roo going across the road before jumping into her.

Adelaide!

Thankyou for the tip! I’m not making any life changes for about six months, and then I’m going to look at the way forward. I must admit I hadn’t even thought of joining a religious community, but it seems like an option I should consider.
