That’s good to hear
I’m kind of scared of the sea still,I just don’t know it.My husband and I went surfing when I met him 4 years ago…the first time for me .
Did you swim in the sea often? For me it was in farm dams and the lake.
I didn’t mind the yabbies and mud .The lake was very nice though, with sandy beaches and clean water.
Mostly the West Coast surf beaches for swimming. After a near drowning in my late teens I now swim between the flags. The rips and undertoes can be extremely strong.
It can be exhausting…I went surfing again recently in an area that had just had tropical storms …and I hadn’t mastered swimming through the breakers too well
I had to give up because I was just too beat.
My son surfs here, more or less often depending on how busy he is with work. He was into scuba diving for a while too, but that takes more planning and preparation. I lack the balance and coordination required for surfing and most all other sports and activities
I don’t think my son has had any close encounters with sharks when he’s out surfing, but he has been startled by a pod of dolphins swimming near him several times. That was cool though, and they’ve been known to chase off sharks.
Yeah, a lot of times he surfs near the Hyperion Water Treatment plant, which is basically L.A.'s giant toilet bowl where all the sewage ends up before going out to sea. Myself, I would worry about catching some nasty disease more than being eaten by sharks, but surfers are a fearless bunch.
you two are funny, I don’t have any likes so have some coffee with sealice and some kangaroo fluff that I found…plus I’ll also throw in the FORD logo that’s missing from the front of the car…unless it’s stuck to the kangaroos forehead for some odd reason.
That kangaroo’s probably telling his version of your story to his friends right now as well, “I was hopping along, minding my own business, when out of nowhere comes one of those metal critters smashing into me! Crikey!”
I notice them, but I hardly ever read them. It seems like by the time I first see them they already have 200 responses, and I don’t want to wade into all that drama .
Steady lad, breath deep…
I’ve given up looking at a lot of threads at the moment
I’ve got nothing to add (one of the perks of being like the scarecrow out of the Wizard of Oz )
I also don’t like the sensation of starting to feel unsettled at some of the posts .
Plus I don’t have a popcorn machine
I read and hear about that kind of phenomena, and all I can say is that’s never been my experience. Their demonstrative and emotional way of worshipping and praying is not my cup of tea either, but to each his own, I guess.
Sometimes I see people at Mass raising their arms high in the air the way Charismatics do, and I think I would not make such a spectacle of myself. Maybe the Holy Spirit leaves you alone if you are too self-conscious, which is what I am.
