Cursing between Muslims & Christians in Quran.

Actually there is a verse in Quran, where Muslims & Christians can gather together in one place and start cursing each others till one group gets that curse, here is the verse:

(Quran 3:61):
“If anyone disputes in this matter with thee, now after (full) knowledge hath come to thee, say: "Come! let us gather together - our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves - then let us earnestly pray, and invoke the curse of Allah on those who lie!”

فَمَنْ حَاجَّكَ فِيهِ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا جَاءَكَ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ فَقُلْ تَعَالَوْا نَدْعُ أَبْنَاءَنَا وَأَبْنَاءَكُمْ وَنِسَاءَنَا وَنِسَاءَكُمْ وَأَنْفُسَنَا وَأَنْفُسَكُمْ ثُمَّ نَبْتَهِلْ فَنَجْعَلْ لَعْنَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْكَاذِبِينَ

ثم قال تعالى آمرا رسوله صلى الله عليه وسلم أن يباهل من عاند الحق في أمر عيسى بعد ظهور البيان " فمن حاجك فيه من بعد ما جاءك من العلم فقل تعالوا ندع أبناءنا وأبناءكم ونساءنا ونساءكم وأنفسنا وأنفسكم " أي نحضرهم في حال المباهلة " ثم نبتهل " أي نلتعن " فنجعل لعنة الله على الكاذبين " أي منا ومنكم . وكان سبب نزول هذه المباهلة وما قبلها من أول السورة إلى هنا في وفد نجران : أن النصارى لما قدموا فجعلوا يحاجون في عيسى ويزعمون فيه ما يزعمون من البنوة والإلهية فأنزل الله في صدر هذه السورة ردا عليهم

To me this sounds exactly like the devil tempting Jesus in the desert!!

I also found this, which refers to mubahala. The whole story is very disturbing. This is just a portion that I found disturbing. The question is about whether a Muslim man, divorced from a Catholic woman can call the ex-wife to mubahala in order to get his children as the ex-wife was given custody by the courts.

There is a clear violation of a principle of shari’a in this case which asserts that al-islam ya’loo wa laa yu’laa ‘alaih, i.e. Islam must be always given the preference and the highest priority in consideration and nothing can come above it. Accordingly, the child must be given to the Muslim parent when there is a separation between a husband and wife and one of them is Muslim and the other kaafir (unbeliever). Those who don’t know the story: a group of Christians came to Prophet Muhammed (p) ; they had debate on divinity of Jesus (p) for the long 3 days & nights.

Then God sent revelation to the Prophet & asked him to tell Christians :

Then whoever disputes with you concerning him (Iesa (Jesus)) after (all this) knowledge that has come to you, (i.e. Iesa (Jesus)) being a slave of Allah, and having no share in Divinity) say:

(O Muhammad SAW) “Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves - then we pray and invoke (sincerely) the curse of Allah upon those who lie.”

Ok , I am very happy to say: if Jesus (p) is the real deity , for rejecting him , may the curse of God Almighty be upon me & all my family members . Everybody , please say Amen , Amen , Amen.

It is the Catholics who are cursing Muslims quite frequently, all over the forum, in one way or another. That’s what I find so funny–that they don’t want Muslims cursing them, yet they aren’t afraid of cursing the Muslims.

On another note, the story highlighted in blue above is in the biography of the Prophet Muhammad–it’s the well-known story regarding the verse in question (OP) and the reason for its revelation.

I’m not sure what “cursing” you’re talking about. I have never cursed anyone here. My objection to Muslim Woman’s post is that she is sinning against God and is asking Christians to do the same. That is abominable! I have pointed out where Satan tempted Jesus in the exact same way that Muslim Woman is doing. Jesus’ response is that you should not put the Lord, your God to the test (in reference to the scripture in Deuteronomy.)

I also pray for Muslim Woman that God may forgive her and bestow blessings upon her and her family. I don’t think she realizes what she is doing.

Some people got very upset about the above. God owns everything and he already cursed and destroyed many people who were idol worshipers befroe as many examples in the bible ( he didn’t need Muhammed for it) .

To be morally outraged and call islam evil is to call your own God evil.

Any way …

I do not believe that it is right or ok for Muslims to ask for this because this was specific to the Prophet on this speciific occasion . Yes we muslism are confident , but Islam is not about sending Muslims winning prayer matches. There is no such teaching calling us to do hat and it is not par of the way we send message of Islam.

This was an inciden special on a specific occasion .

There is no reason for any one to get upset. This verse does exist in the koran and therefore it was posted for discussion.
