Even though Karin had somewhat of an excuse (not Catholic and possibly not Christian) you my friend are Catholic and should have recognized that this stuff is as anti-Catholic as they come and just a piece of re-hashed gnostic, radical feminist drivel.
Which doesant subtract from the fact it was a good read and will probably be a good move. It was, as our Pastor pointed out, FICTION. he was wiodering, as I do why wondering why so many were getting upset.

If you dont like it dont read it and dont see it but please dont lecture me on how I, as a Catholic, should react.

The problem is that Brown has stated that he believes that the major elements are fact (he even has a FACT page as a prelude) and that many people believe it to be fact including many previously faithful Christians. My intent was not to lecture you and for that I apologize.

Wouldn’t dream of lecturing you…How about you return the favor? Now lets all act our age and enjoy the conversation. 😃

I aologize too for the harshenees of my post. I think Brown has given us Catholics a great “teaching moment”. In ponting our Browns errors we are aso able to share our Fatih with people who would never have discussed our Fatih with us.

BTW-I have serous problems with the misreprseantations about the Lords of Cobol in "Battlestar Gallatica " BUT wi’ll leave that for another thread.http://forums.catholic-questions.org/images/icons/icon7.gif

Dan Brown’s fiction would never have struck people as truth had they received a proper education in history or critical thinking. Many people believe anything they read (visit www.snopes.com to see examples of this).

I am sure that anti-Catholicism had something to do with the novel’s popularity, but the major factors here are that people do not know their history, and that they do not know how to analyze claims. In terms of historical content, Dan Brown’s novel is a Jack Chick tract for those who can read big words.
