O God, who by the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, didst prepare a worthy dwelling place for thy Son, we beseech thee that, as by the foreseen death of this, thy Son, thou didst preserve her from all stain, so too thou wouldst permit us, purified through her intercession, to come unto thee. Through the same Lord Jesus Christ, thy Son, who livest and reignest with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. Amen.

A Prayer for the deceased

Almighty Father, eternal God, hear our prayers for our friend’s father whom You have called from this life to Yourself. Grant him light, happiness, and peace. Let him pass in safety through the gates of death, and live forever with all Your saints in the light You promised to Abraham and to all his descendants in faith. Guard him from all harm and on that great day of resurrection and reward raise him up with all Your saints. Pardon his sins and give him eternal life in Your kingdom. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Lord Jesus, our Redeemer, You willingly gave Yourself up to death so that all people might be saved and pass from death into a new life. Listen to our prayers; look with love on Your people who mourn and pray for their loved one who has died. Lord Jesus, You alone are holy and compassionate; forgive him his sins.

By dying You opened the gates of life for those who believe in You; do not let Your brother be parted from You, but by Your glorious power give him light, joy, and peace in heaven where You live for ever and ever. Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ, during Your earthly life You showed compassion to those who had lost a loved one. Turn Your compassionate eyes on mlz’s mother in her sorrow over the loss of her life’s partner. Fill this emptiness until they are together again in Your heavenly kingdom as a reward for their earthly service.

Help her to cope with her loss by relying on You even more than before. Teach her to adapt to the new conditions of her life and to continue doing Your will. Enable her to avoid
withdrawing from life and make her give herself to others more readily, so that she may continue to live in Your grace and to do the task that You have laid out for her. Amen.
