I have just realized that there may be problems with the
“Three Minute Daily Retreat”
link I have been giving in my Posts. If you follow the following link (which I will be posting in future rather than the one that currently appears in my Posts):
findinggod.org/

…it is the Home Site and from there you need only follow the “Three Minute Daily Retreat” icons/links to the day’s retreat. And I am presupposing that these retreats change every 24hrs. I am still investigating things myself to discern what actually does happen.

Apologies for all inconveniences!

If you do notice anything wrong in any of my Posts, either contact the moderator (Klara Collins) or me (private message).

On every post on CAF in the top right hand corner you will see an exclamation mark icon in red and white…click onto it and a form for comments will come up that alerts the moderator to that post.

Tomorrow - Friday 15August 2008 is the SOLEMNITY OF THE ASSUMPTION and the obligation of Penance on a Friday is suspended on a Solemnity:
Canon Law
*Can. 1251 Abstinence from meat, or from some other food as determined by the Episcopal Conference,

is to be observed on all Fridays, unless a solemnity should fall on a Friday.
*Abstinence and fasting are to be observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.

Can. 1252 The law of abstinence binds those who have completed their fourteenth year. The law of fasting binds those who have attained their majority, until the beginning of their sixtieth year. Pastors of souls and parents are to ensure that even those who by reason of their age are not bound by the law of fasting and abstinence, are taught the true meaning of penance.

Can. 1253 The conference of bishops can determine more precisely the observance of fast and abstinence as well as substitute other forms of penance, especially works of charity and exercises of piety, in whole or in part, for abstinence and fast.

Lectio Divina
"Lectio divina is an authentic source of Christian spirituality recommended by our Rule (Carmelite O.Carm). We therefore practice it every day, so that we may develop a deep and genuine love for it, and so that we may grow in the surpassing knowledge of Christ. In this way we shall put into practice the Apostle Paul’s commandment, which is mentioned in our Rule: “Let the sword of the spirit, the Word of God, live abundantly in your mouth and in your hearts; and whatever you must do, do it in the name of the Lord.”*
Carmelite Constitutions (No. 82)*
