scapularkid8,

I understand exactly what you’re talking about. I am looking for something similar in my prayer life. The link that you gave to the prayerbook on Amazon.com looks interesting, but I might find it disjointed and too un-structured to the point that it ends up being shelved and un-used.

I am strongly considering getting this version of the little Office of the BVM. It seems to have the simplicity, yet structure, that I want. I also have found modern prayerbooks to be boring. The prayers are so tepid and limp that I find them a waste of time. The meaty books that really drive me to my knees are usually older forms of prayerbooks that have inspired our fore-fathers.

Rejoice in this fact: our faith is so rich and diverse in its forms of prayer that you are sure to find something that suits your needs.

That is actually my preference. The Word Today has an edition that includes the daily Mass readings, much as the Magnificat has. It is also cheaper.
I wanted to correct this. I have a tendency to confuse The Word Today with God’s Word Among Us.
The Word Today is a scripture study. Each month a different Book from the Bible is read with insights for each day.
God’s Word Among Us, on the other hand, provides insight into the Mass Readings of the day. One of the editions available has a supplement that is a daily Missalette.
