I never said they’re perfect, but at least when you watch a Marvel movie you generally get the same characters on the screen as you read in the comics. Marvel’s not afraid to make comic book movies.They’ve also shown their movies are willing to disregard TV shows and vice versa. Marvel is hardly perfect.

I heard a podcast interview with Paul Dini (the writer for the excellent Batman: The Animated Series) He was working for Lucas Films at the time they were making the Howard the Duck movie and he was all excited until he saw the suit, then realized it was going to bomb big time. He was pushing them to do it as an animated character with live action, like the Roger Rabbit film that was being made at the same time and go for more of a Daffy Duck look.
He said his sister always complained that he never took her to any of the premieres he got invites to, so he took her to see the Howard the Duck premiere and afterwards, she punched him really hard on the arm.
Decades later, he took her to see the Guardians of the Galaxy premiere. They waited until the after the credits scene, and when Howard the Duck did a quick cameo, she turned to Dini in his seat and hit him really hard on the arm again.

Oh? I’m a lifelong student of Superman. The only Superman movie I’ve ever seen that is manifestly nothing at all like Superman came out in 2006. The Snyder movies are a lot closer to the mark. And they at least have an idea behind them, unlike Marvel’s non-stop conveyor belt of pap.I never said they’re perfect, but at least when you watch a Marvel movie you generally get the same characters on the screen as you read in the comics. Machine Man would be a good one. I’d personally like to see more of the obscure characters getting some exposure. I don’t know if they’d all qualify for a full-blown series but now that Disney has them they may as well do something with them.
As far as Rom and the Micronauts go, whoever’s making the G.I. Joe and Transformers movies wants to develop all the Hasbro properties into a cinematic universe. The announcement included Rom, the Micronauts and several others. I had no desire to G.I. Joe and the Transformers movies have ranged from passable to atrocious so I don’t know that I’m terribly excited about the idea of the same people making movies with these other characters.

I missed all those issues where he thoughtlessly killed villains and couldn’t find any motivation for his actions until he half-heartedly settled on Lois as the reason.Oh? The Snyder films don’t portray him as thoughtlessly killing villains IMO. The only one I think he killed was General Zod, and it wasn’t thoughtless, it was because he thought it was the only way to stop him from killing innocent people in that moment. We viewers can think of possible alternative courses of action, but we can’t expect Superman to do so when he’s all filled up with adrenaline and scared and desperate. I think he was portrayed as a guy who tried to come up with a reasonable solution and chose a lesser evil. He did his best. You’re forgetting Doomsday and, more importantly, the guy in the desert who was holding Lois. Superman has always stood for truth, justice and the American way. The guy who sort of looks like him in the Snyder pictures stands for…Lois?
