Vatican Radio podcast is pretty neat isn’t it. I wish some of what they report would make it onto our big news radio and television stations in the US.

Yes it is, they present information that you do not hear in the general media or much of the “Catholic Media” (e.g. Relevant Radio, Ave Maria Radio, EWTN, etc…).

Catholic Relief Services is helping those in Darfur.

I’m kind of surprised there haven’t been many posts on this thread. Doesn’t anybody care?

I have noticed that topics like these do not bring out the posts. This part of Catholic Theology seems to be underfocused by the members.

I don’t have a clear picture of what is going on. Secular media tends to criticize the president (so I don’t put much stock in those reports), religious media might tell, but not offer solutions or suggestions. I’m not proud that I don’t understand it, but I’m sure I’m not the only one. 🤷

You are not. This situation has no easy answers.

I have been following the Darfur situation through Catholic Relief Services mailings and the website for several years – much sooner than the celebrities and news media got on board. I have to plug CRS here – at one point the news media were reporting that all the aid organizations had been chased out of an area where most of the refugee camps were. I called the CRS office in Baltimore, spoke with someone and within a few hours got a call from a woman in the office who is in almost daily contact with the CRS relief workers in Darfur and she was able to give me an update.

Other than constant prayer, I think one of the best things you can do is donate to CRS and direct that it go toward Darfur relief.

I agree that the level of interest/caring on the forums about humanitarian crisises is disheartening – but a post about people wearing disrespectful clothing to mass will get fifty responses.🤷
