did you noticed I didn’t mention history? LOL, just kidding, of course we need history, a history of how homosexuality have destroyed nations and people, not to tolerate or accept it!
What very odd history lessons you must have had. This might explain some of your attitudes towards homosexuals if your history teachers lied to you in such a way.

Schools are not just their to teach children about Maths/Sciences and Languages. Their is a whole wealth of social skills, and gradually increasing levels of independence that are a nessesery development in a childs life. Something that you cannot get at home.

Children who are raised at home, end up being indoctinated in their parents opinions and views. Wether these are good or bad. This is not the way to raise a child. Children should be encouraged to think independently. To be critical and to analyse things on their own. Schools provide an excelent enviroment for this to happen.

Squishy, you have your head screwed on backwards. guiding children comes from a loving home which parents can give, not institutions! If that’s the case then there is no need for adoption, just send them to schools and let them be independent thinkers, what do they need mom and dad for! what would happen if you put ten children of 10 year old in an isolated island and let them open-mindedly raise themselves? you are crazy to believe anyone could care more about children than their parents. perhaps that’s explains your way of thinking!

Sorry if you misunderstood me. Of course parents can give children many many things that schools and other institutions never can. I was trying to convey that their is a place for both in the development of a child.

For that matter, I would like to see Catholic parents not send their children to school on Good Friday!

In Australia, Good Friday is a Public Holiday - schools are closed, also offices and many shops. No-one goes to school on Good Friday.

even if god does hate homosexuals (which he doesnt…only ,mabye, the particular actions of them) wouldnt he also hate it when people dont love their neighbour and turn to bullying, descriminating, bashing and leading people to contimplate ,if not attempt or achieve ,suicide ?
by my understanding this day of silence is not to promote or accept the actions of the of the people recieving this treatment but condemn the (very unchristian and uncivil) actions being used against them and show compassion for those lost to or damaged because of those actions.
a little christian charity towards your fellow human beings

Except calling someone a “f____” or making remarks like “that’s so gay” is discrimination under both. So is beating up the gay kid.

It is stuff like that that the day of silence opposes. People who get beat on every day with no recourse and no ability to speak up or speak out.

There is absolutely no reason a Catholic should oppose a day that opposes abuse of homosexuals.
True, but the problem is that the pro-gay crowd thinks wanting to keep marriage defined to that of a man and a woman is “discrimination.”

How is it not. You are forbiding their relationships the same legal standing as hetrosexual couples relationships. And you are doing this based on the fact that they are homosexual. I would say thats pretty much discrimination. But thats not what the day is about. Its about raising awareness of the problems that Homosexual people face everyday just by being different.

I imagine a lot of the older generations never had this issue. But certainly people of my age (25) will all have seen what its like for people who ‘come out’ while still at school. And the harassment that they recieve. People should never be afraid to be who they are.

This day is not about your delicate sensabilities regarding homosexuals and their ‘acts’ its about raising awarness of people who are persecuited for being different. I would say its a very christian act to take part in this.

whatever…you can call it God’s truth, but you know its not. He made it clear as to how he defines homosexuality, but you refuse to see it.

I will not back down from defending the Truth…even if it means turning people away from the church, these people and you have already separated yourselves from the church and God, so nothing is lost.
Ok Matrix mentioned the group called Courage which is officially sanctioned by the Catholic church. It seems that you don’t know the truth. Who died and left you the one to decide what God’s truth is?

No need to keep him home. I home school. So he is home every day.

Then I took a peak at the calendar. Public school is closed. 🤷 It is an in service day for teachers but students will be home.

On the other hand, public school is open on Good Friday. A day that we never have school.

The Catholic Church teaches that everyone must be treated with dignity. This includes people who have same sex attraction.

How do you think God feels when people turn away from His church because of hate-filled spokesmen who feel they speak for God?

Simply by feeling same sex attraction, they have NOT separated themselves from God. There is quite difference between FEELING that and ACTING on that.

And your comment…“nothing is lost”!!

I thought Jesus told a story sometime in his ministry about finding the single lost sheep…or was that wrong, too?🤷

I am NOT debating God’s truth here, I am telling you about the reality I live with, the moral tightrope I have to walk every single day of my life. But you clearly don’t get it.

Fine, if that’s what you want, I’ll leave the Church. I don’t need people being pious jerks to me when I just needed a little help and consolation along the road I have to travel in life.

Don’t let a few j***s turn you off the road to God. That is what Satan would love to happen! Don’t let Satan win. Ignore those who are less than helpful towards you, as tough as it may be.

Remember the Sanhedrin in Jesus time thought they knew better than Jesus, too. (and they were high ups in the temple, “knowledgeable” in the law).

And don’t forget that all (yes, even Bass!) have planks, so they should not be concerned about others’ specks.

Hang in there!👍

True, but the problem is that the pro-gay crowd thinks wanting to keep marriage defined to that of a man and a woman is “discrimination.”
My brother has participated in it at high school (mine was Catholic) and said that marriage isn’t even really a part of it - that it’s just about the kinds of discrimination that would happen to 14/15/16/17 year olds, few of whom are thinking about marriage, at least nowadays. My brother said that the biggest issue discussed around this day is bullying and name-calling.

That is exactly what it is at my kids’ school as well. It is about not bullying, not name calling, and not being violent towards anyone.

My son has a friend who likes to wear a mohawk hairstyle. He also dresses very radically and is very artsy and creative. He accepts the fact that people stare (and in fact kind of welcomes it!) and make comments about his creativity. What is NOT OK is when people start to get physically violent towards him because they don’t like his hair or choice of fashion. (and he is most definitely NOT gay).

My own son prefers to wear his hair long. People make judgments of him because of this. Some, in their not so bright moments, have previously tried to beat him up. They quickly found out he was much stronger than he looks, and he also was well-schooled in the discipline of tae kwon do. They may have started it, but my son quickly finished it. (no one tries that anymore).

NO ONE should have to be bullied, beat up, called names, etc. because they choose a different look. This day of silence in my sons’ school is mostly about that.

and you excused me of name calling! look, it is really simple, God said if you are living in sin and die with sin you will burn in hell, why are you so blind to see that, its not that hard! I am not making up my own truth, I am only telling you what God is tell all of us regarding homosexuality.

So are you saying telling a practicing homosexual its okay to be homosexual? that’s love?! no sir, that is what hate is. I maybe harsh in my words but is because I need to wake you people up. love sir is when you tell some one the truth even if it means to be ridiculed and demonized. Kind of like what they did to the Christ and many martyrs.

what’s funny about you so called Catholics are so pro homosexual! You sure don’t sound like Catholics to me, and if you are you really need to examine your moral compass.

Jesus who got angry at blind leaders who were misguiding people, like you are doing by telling gays its alright to be gays. no sir, you are lying to these people and you are those people who Christ was angry at. Homosexuals do need help and sometimes a slap on the face is necessary. enough with your false compassion, and stop misleading these people. You are a hypocrite.

There is a big difference between being a practicing homosexual and merely having the inclination. This difference is not acting on one impulses of same-sex attraction, just as a chaste heterosexual person chooses not to act on the impulse to find a way to sleep with every person of the complimentary gender they find themselves attracted to.

Ok is same sex attraction a sin in of it;s self, while not acting on it?

So-called discrimination? Actual discrimination exists against homosexuals and trans-sexuals, on a daily basis, actually exists in the form of daily slurs and insults. Where it does exist, it does indeed deserve to be protested. Opposing that discrimination does not mean that one has to support gay marriage, no more than opposing segregation would have led to joining the Black Panthers.
The actual discrimination arises in large part because gays flaunt their life-style and are part of a national political movement. There is more discrimination against students who openly profess their Christianity. The absurd bans on specific religious remarks during graduation addresses is just an example.

it depends, if same sex attraction give you pleasure even in thought then yes its sin, its called lust. but if you for a second noticed that and reject it immediately then it is not, in fact that would be saintly. I think it was St. Frances who through himself on thorn bushes just to overcome sexual temptations. It could have been St. Anthony of Padua, not really sure!

but it is also a sin, if you say to yourself and gays its okay to be gay, especially if they are practicing homosexuals.
