Despite the White House’s recent effort to honor people committed to Catholic education, analysts are cautioning about seeing the gesture as an appreciation for Catholic teachings.

To say this is a hypocritical move doesn’t cut it…this is a blatant antagonistic, twist the knife in the back slap in the face. This administration has out and out contempt for Catholics.

Upon having a conversation with a fellow parishioner, he said that not long ago he was watching the public television station in our area…they had a panel on of political guests. One of them, a journalist said when he interviewed the President at the beginning of his term, he asked him what his means were to get things done that he wanted to accomplish, and the difficulties he might run into with public opinion etc. The President answered him that he had learned as a community organizer from one of his atheist cohorts that you separate them out. Emphasize their differences so that you can work with each group individually to eliminate objections. They are managable seperately, and that way they are not unified and unmanagable.

In other words: (my words) Divide and Conquer.

The president may be evil, but he isn’t dumb. (I say that as one who originally tried to give him the benefit of the doubt) He knows full well that droves of catholics are defiant of their own church’s teachings already. He figures he can make nice with nominal catholics who already don’t care what the church teaches about sexuality, then he can politically tyrannize faithful catholic institutions without suffering for it at the polls.

Any catholic with a brain should see the organized way we are being marginalized in American society. They pass gay marriage and civil union laws and use them to eject catholics from adoption services ministry work. They pass coercive contraception laws and eject catholics from the pharmacy business. They pass coercive abortion / sterilization laws and force catholic hospitals and clinics to either abandon their catholic identity or close. They grant lawsuit immunity to school districts where teachers molested students and administrators covered it up so as to protect the education funding of students, but they allow lawyers to seize diocesan assets and funds that otherwise would have been used for social work, food pantries, homeless shelters, education and formation, a blatant double standard. Why? Because they are out to eliminate us from our role in the public square. It’s only paranoid if it isn’t true. Open your eyes catholics.

I wish Catholics who are not faithful to the teachings either change or they should leave the Church.

👍 I think there are some that bought into his propaganda. They believed that he would be moderate…that he would be a fair President culturally, economically. If even these Catholics open their eyes we might be ok. Actually, after he was elected, I wanted to give him the chance, as I thought it might be ok…he said he was a Pragmatist. I believed him. Or at least I wanted to believe him.

Yes, the President is trying to force us out of all social agencies. He wants government run everything. He wants to wipe out our Christian roots and at the very same time he is proclaiming his Christianity from the rooftops. If I had a minute, I would post links. He is a hypocrite of ultra proportions. Problem being, he is a master communicator. He can make people believe the grass is purple. People have to resist his charisma. It’s tough, as he is the best I’ve ever seen. But he is not truthful…in the least bit.

My gut was correct immediately following the election…the knot in the pit of my stomach should have told me everything.

Obama reminds me more and more of Henry VIII. Henry had parliament to pass his “Act of Supremacy”, in which the king was made head of the church, and the church was therafter obliged to do his will, whether it was acceptable to the church or not. In his latest action, Obama has done just that. He has ordered institutions of the Catholic Church to follow his own moral guidelines instead of its own. This is not the first time he did that, just perhaps the most widely condemned.

In taking over the moral direction of the church, Henry found a goodly number of people who readily accepted it. The “English Martyrs” were a distinct minority. Why did they accept it? They accepted it because it largely fit what a great number of people wanted anyway (e.g., to loot the monasteries, to take Church lands, to remove the burdens of monastic poor relief, to divorce and remarry) and because the threat of state action kept other mouths shut. (Not all wanted to suffer More’s fate, or Fisher’s) Of course, not many got to loot the Church; only the privileged few.

Without being so overt about it, Obama is declaring himself (and has been doing so for some time) the "head of the (dissenting) Church in America). He makes a sickening pretense of “cooperating” with the Church as a “partner”, but only on his terms. His overriding message at Notre Dame was “abortion is off the table. Now what part of my policies can we work together on?”) Unfortunately, many American Catholic bought into it, and undoubtedly many still will. Obama is a “promiser” of things that don’t happen, just like Henry, but people don’t realize it just yet. Like Henry, he curries the greed and favor only of the great. But Obama has greatly capitalized on the terrible legacy of a generation of Catholics whose catechesis consisted solely in a watered-down version of Liberation Theology; a “theology” whose central tenet is a statism that supposedly benefits “the poor”, but only serves itself. Obama is already, in some measure, the “pope” of this particular brand of Catholicism. And, he has the power of the state behind him and a hefty “stick” as well as an anemic “carrot”.

In my opinion, the current situation is a great deal worse than many make it out to be. People have long speculated whether the Church in America is headed for schism. I don’t think that’s quite the thing. What it’s really headed for is a de facto “Anglicanization” of a distinctly 21st Century American type, in which the secular sovereign is the de facto “head of the (partial” church." without ever directly saying so. Obama doesn’t need a formal Act of Supremacy, but he has declared it in practical terms, nevertheless. Remember, Henry VIII himself never did say he was creating a “separate church”. Neither will Obama.

Obama is a lot more clever than current churchmen give him credit for. He is playing on the weaknesses the churchmen in America have allowed to grow within the body of the faithful for decades.

What will happen to the Catholic institutions? Well, some are under the control of the bishops, but most are not. Most belong to religious orders that have already gone a long way down the road to secularization. I have personally seen Catholic hospital institutions sold to secular organizations by religious orders that no longer have the numbers nor the will to go on with their “mission”. If orders like the Sisters of Mercy feel themselves obliged to “sell out” (a complicated process that would take a long time to explain) their institutions, some major capitalists are going to acquire some very lucrative assets. The play may work out for them, and it may not. But I feel confident Obama already knows their names.

—and so is the devil. The devil is letting us see some of his finest work through this president.

Indeed. The watering down of our faith has contributed to this end. We have had either no catechesis in the past 40 years or so, or we have had false catechesis, depending on the diocese. He is taking full advantage of this situation, with the sheep that are scattering as a result…I believe he himself said in a round about way (something I heard from a parishioner that saw an interview) “divide and conquer”.
He is very smart and very charismatic, a deadly combination and someone that cannot be underestimated. He is playing our weakness as a Church, and knows full well our vuneralbilities and how to play them.

The Bishops I do believe have not been willing (until now) to come down emphatically on issues that should have been addressed in the public square. Now, I think they realize that even left leaning Churchmen are opposed to this HHS mandate and they are (thank God!) taking full advantage of the situation. Whether it’s enough, or too late is a “wait and see”.

We must put on the armour of God, pray pray pray. St. Michael the Archangel defend us in battle!

—and so is the devil. The devil is letting us see some of his finest work through this president.
I always think of this thought from Fr. (Mr.🤷) Corapi…“sometimes the battle is so intense it breaks through the veil for all to see”…ah, yes indeed it has broken through the veil!

So, under the guise of an immoral mandate–Obama’s Act of Supremacy–the State may ultimately be able to seize Catholic institutions.

And I suppose that most people will just settle back and say, "well, it worked out okay. The hospitals and universities and charities ceased to be Catholic organizations, but they are still there, now following the dictates of their new ruler.

People will mostly not even know it happened.

After this administration seizes control of Catholic institutions, it will get to work on others. Henry VIII is indeed a good analogy.

His actions are a deliberate attempt to cause confusion and division among Catholics, much like NPR’s occasional airing of a favorable Catholic piece.

Well, yes and no. I just wonder who cannot see the hypocrisy of such action by the President? Hmm…some people are so naive that they would buy this? Just sayin…

Sadly, you are dead on with this.
