I’m not abused. No one’s ever taken a swing at me, or threatened to kill me or hurt me. I don’t think my dad really even gets that what he’s doing is hurtful. I mean, there are time when he can be a great dad, when he comes home smiling and happy and cracks jokes. And I mean, from what I’ve heard, his own dad was kinda emotionally nonexistant, so…yeah.

I’m sorry again, everyone. I didn’t mean for this to get so far out there. I wouldn’t have posted it if I did.
You CAN get a degree online. There are many colleges and universities that offer degrees online (though, it’s usually limited). YOu must also factor in that the neglect you have experienced DOES contribute to your lack of self-esteem. Why would anyone in your family want to teach you life skills when they obviously want you dependent on them? There is medication for anxiety issues (I have relatives who have such great anxiety in their family line that they have difficulty leaving the house, one was so bad that she NEVER left the house, I never met her, until she started medication for this illness and now she goes everywhere).

I understand the attachment to family obligations, but you know what, you have enough family that can take care of your grandma. If they don’t that’s on their souls, not yours. Go, make your way in the world. YOu will not know what interests you until you begin living life.

well I have taken another look at this post and now I realize that this person who put this fake post onhere needs some psychological hope I spelled that correcly help I hope that she gets help from maybe a catholic christian therapist or something I know we all get depressed it seems like she may be a bit sheltered I dont know how old she really is but she needs to get out of her comfort zone and learn some life skills and I am really upset that she wasted space in this forum that was not entirely true it took away from people who had a real problem to deal with or who had a legitimate reason to post something Thank you Catharina for informing me of that this was posted by the girl herself I seriously hope that she gets a life or something like maybe joining agroup with similar interests or something or maybe even taking classes to learn living skills I sure she could maybe find some at her local jrcollege or something or even if she volunteered somewhere that would keep her mind off of her own problems I know volunteering at a catholic retirement residence and a shelter for abandoned dogs helps me forget my problems

Ah, no, I’m afriad I wasn’t lying about my age. HS graduate, first in my family. Attended a year of JuCo, but it’s a long drive, and no one around to make it.

The next town over has a bus for, erm…special children, and I could apply to ride it, but my family doesn’t want me to. Don’t want the trouble of the doctor’s appt. I keep suggesting it, but they keep telling me reasons why I don’t want to.

“Oh you don’t want to ride it”

“They’ll only come out here twice a day; you’ll be away from home all day long.”

“You can’t get a job in town. What if it snows, and the bus can’t get out here for you?”
That is just an excuse for your family not wanting you to get out on your own I suggest that you move to a town that has tranportation get a job doing whatever may attend college at the same time live inthe dorm do you get any type of disability maybe you could save enough to have someone drive you to a city and check things out put in afew applications whatever you do dont let people keep you from having a life not even your own family sometimes we have to distance ourselves frompeople even in our families to have a life of our ownIs there anything within walking distance that you could maybe get ajob at
or even volunteer at I know that volunteering at a catholic retirement residence and at a shelter for abandoned dogs sure helps me realize that there are others worse off than me
