I think they’re linking to articles on other sites. But either way, I’m very sorry.

I just looked at New Advent. Great articles. I hadn’t been there for a while.

So glad someone reminded me.

It’s fine, good stuff.

I just looked at New Advent.

http://www.newadvent.org/

Many many fine articles, really links to other articles.

So glad you reminded me about New Advent. Adding it back into my list to check.

That’s fine. I just think to slam the whole site is very unfair, “retreatist”…

And is a post slamming the whole site as was done above “conducive to anything”?

I said I was happy that someone pointed me to the site, having forgotten about it. That’s not mocking.

Please your repeated and increasingly pointed and personal accusations don’t make for good dialog. You can pretend to know what other people think, but normally you’ll be well off the mark. Good rule.

pax, good bye.

So, do you think that most straight people consider their relationships with their spouses or significant others and all the feelings and emotions and attractions that are involved to be superficial and unimportant? A person’s sexuality and the many emotions connected to it of which love is one of the most important are very integral parts of a person.

No, not at all.

However, most straight people have always seen homosexuality as being disordered and not normal, and something engaged in by neurotic individuals who are suffering.

The idea that homosexuality should be considered to be a normal and immutable sexual preference is a new one that a lot of people aren’t convinced of.

I’ll also agree that there is a lack of nuance with what some people are saying. The internet seems to amplify the lesser parts of humanity.

Married couples haven’t placed a terminal block in the depth of their unity as s/s couples have.

Conjugal union is limitless, and can and should continue to deepen, with grace and the couple’s cooperation until one of them dies.

Sexuality reveals a potential complementary unity to it, but sexuality is but the beginning of a union that should go much much deeper, well beyond the body. It is wholly unique and unparalleled. It can’t be mimiced. Doing so is really a mockery of it.

s/s couples begin with a permament limit, a block to unity.

That’s the difference.

God Graced Doug Mainwaring with a beautiful marriage to a woman.

I’m only offering this up. I’m certainly not going to get into a debate. Unkindness from anyone is not of The Spirit.
He (Doug Mainwaring) suffered (or may still do) from same sex attraction; but made a decision to do what is Godly for himself and others around him.
Yes, it is true, I do not know what suffering from same sex attraction feels like. But I suffered from over attraction to woman far above natural attraction. And it wasn’t easy over the years that I did not cooperate with God’s Grace for pure Godly thinking, nearly enough. And one thing that never helped - and that was being cajoled by anyone. One of the main helps God sent, were Godly people. If we surround ourselves with those who went through some kind of struggle to be more Godly, who do not tell us what we want to hear; but are willing to help us with what we need to hear — then the battle develops a beachhead, gets to midway, and then through it – and a person becomes more willing to keep asking, seeking, and knocking to grow in conversion to God. God is for us, not against us, and God never cajoles; all we have to do is read The Gospels, which reflect the Authentic Christ Jesus.
Everyone should be treated with compassion and kindness. But lack of assertiveness is not kindness. Now a days with many things, so many are called unkind and judgmental no matter how kind and empathetic they express the truth of the natural law, which reflects God’s Law. And only by cooperating with God’s Grace can anyone begin to develop the inner peace;
and cheerfulness that God gives generously to overcome fleshly desired apart from God’s Will.
Yes, I know that not all who suffer from SSA, do this — but there are many who are down right mean if someone doesn’t agree with them. Should this be overlooked? When John Cardinal O’Connor was Bishop of NYC, some actually did sex acts on the steps of St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
Just like Bishop Fulton J. Sheen prophesied before 1950 — there would be an anthropomorphic centered accommodating atmosphere over the whole Church; which, from the outside would look the same. But he said do not worry, God will allow this for God’s Holy Purpose and the Chaste Church will always be available to those who choose it. But he also said, many do not realize the acceptance of evil in their times, because they just do not want to believe it.
I’m all for true compassion, and upholding a person’s personal God given dignity. One of the main problems in the world is enabling. And when this steam rolled more and more since the 1950s, and much more since the early 2000s, many see a tremendous correlation with so many leaving the Church.
After all, I can be a ‘good person,’ and help people. ‘Going to Church or not going to Church, doesn’t seem to make much difference in people’s lives.’
And things like that greatly contributed. None of us let God’s Grace develop a growth toward inner peace, harmony, chastity, and things like cheerfully helping others - by letting ‘feelings,’ trump faith and reason.
Peace.

I disagree here, sensitivity and compassion only go so far. True compassion would be caring for the eternal souls of people and teaching what the church has taught as truth historically. We have tried (sensitivity and compassion) and it doesn’t seem to be doing any good for the church. Look at the collapse of the Protestant faith doctrine. Divorce and remarriage are running rampant in those groups as people are afraid to call sin a sin. We can be compassionate while still calling an ugly duck an ugly duck. The problem is clearly connected to homosexuality within the church. We need to address the real issue rather than pretending it’s something else.
This doesn’t mean we hate on people with same sex attraction, but we need to call out the problem.

I’ll say this without apology. At this point I am sick unto death of people stridently pushing a gay agenda into the Catholic Church and every piece of secular society. Sick unto death at the flagrant insult to Our Lord and mockery of those who reject it. It is destroying everything in its wake. I have little compassion left I’m afraid.
God help us all.

Agreed, and well stated. There is a time for compassion, and there is a time for hard truths. Right now it is more important than ever to push back against the homosexual agenda and any attempt to normalize or excuse homosexual acts, gay marriage, pride parades, or whatever other nonsense is being cooked up by homosexual groups.

I am a man. All of the culprits in this are men. Maleness is also part of the discussion, especially since some people are saying it would be better to have married priests because single men can’t control themselves. Such talk cast all men in a bad light.

I’m not bothered by such talk. I’m especially not bother if there is truth to it. Even if men are less able to control their sexual impulse that doesn’t mean that applies to me. But it may well be a weakness of a group I belong to. Why deny reality?

A practicing Catholic cannot act on their same sex attraction, so, it would be superficial and pointless to identify yourself based on your sexual preferences. To do so gives off the impression that you are trying to have it both ways to a lot of people.

I don’t find anything particularly wrong with NewAdvent.org at all. Msgr. Pope writes for the Register and other sites. Many on here also suggest staying away from EWTN’s The World Over because of Raymond Arroyo, Fr. Gerald Murray and Robert Royal. The same goes with Fr. Z. and LifeSiteNews. The only reason I can come up with for staying away from such sites is fear of orthodoxy. I have no problems with the aforementioned.
