Question: in either ep.4 or 5 there is a scene where Obi makes a comment that if Luke goes to the dark side, there is one other. At the time, everyone assumed he was referring to Leia…but Leia never really had or used the force. Could they now be implying that Rey is that other? The writers or Lukas may not have meant Rey at the time but have now tied the idea together?
@Pattylt @Joe_5859 It is Leia being referred to. A big part of the storyline of Rise of Skywalker is showing that she’s a Jedi (by taking on an apprentice in Rey, who finishes Leia’s Jedi training). Here are interviews with the RoS co-writer explaining how they had to put Leia into “the Jedi pantheon” to fulfill that line:
“…I suppose our main goal of those first few weeks — because we were working largely with the Leia footage — was to fulfill the promise of “there is another” in this film. It has to put Leia into the Jedi pantheon. To do that without new footage of Leia was challenging, but that became the central story of Rey finishing the Jedi journey of Leia. That way, by the end of the film, Leia could join Luke as a Force Ghost and spiritually join her father and all the other Jedi. While you only see the twins in that moment, we thought that would give Leia more centrality, and you would really feel the strength of seeing Leia in the Jedi afterlife for the first time.”
Chris Terrio dives deep into 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' spoilers, including the debates over that final shot, Kelly Marie Tran’s diminished screentime, and arguments the film is a repudiation of Rian Johnson:

"In terms of the specifics of the story, Terrio and Abrams decided that “The Rise of Skywalker” needed to fulfill a promise of “there is another” that was established in George Lucas’ original “Star Wars” trilogy, the idea that Leia too has great strength with the Force and needed to herself “join the Jedi pantheon.” He added that they even discussed this idea with Lucas himself.
“The force runs strong in that family, but Leia is as strong as Luke and she could be a great Jedi, but she chose a different life as a senator, then as a general, but she also had a Jedi path in front of her at one time,” Terrio said. “We discussed it with George early on, the promise of Leia. So we had the challenge of trying to put Leia in the Jedi pantheon and make this film really about Leia ascending to join her brother, but do it without Carrie. So we came upon the idea of there was someone who would finish Leia’s Jedi training for her."
