There’s hardly a topic to be discussed, but that someone or other, liberal or conservative, is willing to play the Hitler card. The problem is that Hitler and his regime were so monstrous that comparison with anything that goes on relating to our foreign affairs is ludicrous, and can be offensive, given that there are people who lived through the Nazi regime and know what a pale comparison modern affairs are to it.

How could it happen again, when the only army in the Middle East that approaches Israel’s military might, that of Egypt, is at peace with Israel?

Korean Air flight 007 was shot down supposedly over international waters - making the USSR out to be that evil empire. Now Israel kills people in international waters and they’re the victim?

What the article claims is that Islan Haklary Ve Hurriyetleri Vakfi (IHH) belongs to an Egyptian umbrella organization called Union of Good (Ittilaf al-Kheir in Arabic), and that that umbrella organization has a leader who has previously supported suicide bombing, The terrorist organization is the Union of Good, not IHH, which conducted the blockade running flotilla.

That’s because the US education system is useless. They teach more about the holocaust than Chemistry - and we wonder why we’re falling behind. How about replacing the monthly holocaust museum trip with a chemistry extravaganza?

More like a bit… During my sophomore year there were three trips. I didn’t go on any of them.
Unfortunately I had to visit Dachau when I was on a class trip in Germany. I wanted to see some art museums but somehow I was conned into going to Dachau instead.

My parents visited Oświęcim (Auschwitz) once when they made their annual trips back to Poland. A single visit was fine, as many Catholic Poles died there, too. But, one visit to that place is enough. to make one not want to go back again.

My visit to Dachau was no different than watching a movie about it. That’s all we did - roamed from one building to another watching videos. It was utterly useless and a wasted day.
I was upset and told off one of the teachers who made us do it. I really let her have it too.

At any rate, I knew somebody during my undergrad - a journalism major. He infiltrated the local White supremacists for an entire year and reported his findings. I was his ‘handler’ he put papers in designated places where I would pick them up and send them off to the agency he worked for.
But that’s another story for another thread.
