Do Catholics believe that loved ones can contact us via a letter, note etc.

If it is God’s will, anything is possible. Discernment must also be necessary because the Enemy is continually attempting to deceive people.

Miraculous occurrences are exceptions that are avoided except when Providence decides otherwise. “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe”.

Peace.

They stop when they go off to college.

Oh! You mean deceased loved ones. My bad. That would seem to have its genesis in the spiritual realm and so a conversation with a very holy priest would be in order.

Or a court order against whomever is doing this as harassment.

I seriously doubt that any of my deceased relatives are going to be writing me any letters any time soon.

I got a phone call from my dad about a year after he died. This was long before cell phones and caller ID. On the old land-line. I picked up the phone and he said “how are you doing?” just like he always did when he called me. I was so flabbergasted that it sounded exactly like him I said “who is this?” Immediately the phone went dead to the dial tone. If I was only smart I would have starred-69 the call, but I didn’t.

So yes I believe deceased loved ones can contact us.

If God wishes or permits a deceased person to reach out to us in some way, then it could happen.

However, we are not permitted to call up the dead ourselves, and that includes loved ones. We also are not permitted to go through mediums who would write some letter claiming it is from a deceased person.

Although “all things are possible with God”, it seems like a deceased person communicating by writing you a note is a bit far-fetched, unless it is a case of them writing something down while they were alive and you just happen to find it now at a crucial moment. The deceased are no longer in the physical realm, so any communications God permitted would be more like the communications that can come from Heaven via God, such as when God sends an angel or just inspires a person on earth to think something at a certain time. God and angels don’t send us physical letters.

I have had dreams of my loved ones, especially my husband who passed away a year and a half ago. But that is what they are just dreams. We miss them, think about them, and cry at times, hence the dreams. Leaving a note seems very unlikely. I remember reading about Houdini who went all over the world trying to contact his mother who he loved so very much. He found that every medium he went through had a bag of tricks and some were very good. We pray to God that our loved ones Rest in Peace and knowing that gives me peace. God bless you.🦋🦋

No way my family would ever contact me. I used to call weekly and the first comment was “You are paying for this call; therefore, we will hang up now”. They would not be able to say that from the grave so I would never hear from them. I still pray rosaries for their ultimate salvation. They are family after all. When we are all in heaven not one family member will have to worry about the cost involved in contacting other family members.
