Deceased priest added to abuse list 15 years after rape allegations

A deceased Catholic priest accused of raping a young girl in the 1970s has been added to the Archdiocese of Milwaukee’s list of clergy restricted because of substantiated allegations of sexual abuse of children - 15 years after the victim first made the allegations against him.

The late Father Donald Musinski, who served parishes in and around Milwaukee for nearly 40 years, is only the second priest added to the list since it was first published in 2004.

The archdiocese had known about Musinski since at least 1997 when the victim, Karen Konter, reported him to Project Benjamin, the church’s now-defunct program for sex abuse victims.

It declined to list him when then-Archbishop Timothy Dolan first published the names of 43 offender priests on the archdiocese website in 2004 because it could not substantiate the allegations, according to a letter sent to Konter the following year.

Along with the deep distress the abuse by priests has caused to the victims,the way in which it has been handled is another deep distress.It has caused enormous damage the reputation of the church is at stake at all times. I pray every day for victims and perpetrators of abuse within the church.You are welcome to join as is anyone on the prayer intentions forum

Lord please hear our prayers for all those who have suffered abuse at the hands of those in a role of authority of your church.We cannot know the horrors they have been through and we ask You would heal them emotionally mentally and physically,May they feel Your deep love for each of them.We pray also for mercy for the clergy who committed these acts and brought scandal to the church.They must have mental illness themselves to cause such horror to another person.Lord You know the souls of all involved and I ask for Your love and mercy for all involved.Please guide us Your church members to know how to move forward in the right way to help all involved and to prevent this continuing.Lord in Your mercy hear our prayers.Amen
