December Republican Primary Poll

And that is a problem because? The point of the debates, primaries, etc is so that we get to KNOW the candidates better. A great debate performance, a win in a straw poll, an effective ad can profile a candidate that voters may not have considered. Similarly a poor prime time interview (does anyone doubt Katy Couric’s interview damaged Sarah Palin?) a stumbling debate (can we say Rick Perry), a purported scandal can take that rising star out of the sky.

I think it’s a GOOD THING that early on, various candidates take the front runner spot where they receive the scrutiny needed to determine if they can make the long journey to the White House. One of the biggest problems with Obama is that many voters DIDNT get to know him and what he was about. I’m very happy to see the group of Republicans duke it out this far from the election giving us time to hopefully make the right decision.

The *edited* interview DID do damage, thanks to Nicole Wallace allowing leftist hack Katie Couric over six HOURS worth of interviews. Palin's annoyance at Couric came through. You didn't see Couric asking the same question multiple times. Palin is an extremely bright and savvy woman, and McCain's inept campaign wasted her. Rob

:ehh: Really? Sounds a bit over the top to me.
I don't think that any states will break away, but their economies ARE on the precipice of collapse, and I agree that the entire nation will become a rotting corpse if socialism prevails in 2012. :nope: Rob

Cain is suspending his campaign.

I have to say I am a little sad even though I don’t think he can win now, he brings a new spirit to the Republican party, and I am sure that will be lasting even though he has stepped out. Herman Cain is awesome. 👍 God Bless him and his family.

I don’t think even Cain thought he would make it this far. Still don’t know why he didn’t anticipate these attacks or allegations. I think it shows questionable judgement on his part, at best.

I expected Cain would stop his campaign. I’m very glad to hear he will stay active in promoting his message though!

I liked him at first when I heard his speech at CPAC. He is a great speaker and will become a major player in the party while not running for office (like Palin). I never thought he’d make it this far and I think he thought the same. For the first few months of the race, he was my number two pick, but then I heard his stances and tax plan and decided he wasn’t a very good pick. Though he has the power to motivate which the party needs.

I don’t agree with Rachel Maddow on much (or anything) but I found this amusing:

True, but then again his whole campaign seemed a little disorganized. The biggest question mark over the authenticity of the sexual harassment allegations for me is the timing. When he ran for senator, no allegations in the media. When Cain was low in the polls in the presidential campaign, no allegations in the media. When he became the frontrunner, the allegations appeared.

It’s a problem because…um, if you get a different Flavor of the Week every few days, that makes building momentum difficult - not to mention fundraising. Who - and, by who, that includes corporations (who are people) - wants to donate their money to a candidate who’ll be out of the race soon? That, in turn, makes voters skeptical of voting for a candidate because the person they thought was most qualified was last week’s Flavor of the Week. Frankly, I’m truly surprised at how quickly Michelle Bachmann has been abandoned - and by the very same people who would have supported Palin, too. It doesn’t get any more ironic than that.
No, that is not a problem. You don’t “get a new flavor” every week, the candidates get a trial run so to speak to allow the voters to get to know them and decide whether to support them over the long term. The reality is that one may have had an impression of a candidate based on previous experience, what the media says or better yet personal interaction. But when you see the candidate debate or hear a speech you realize that your impression was erroneous. Remember Rick Perry coming in at number one? It’s because many voters had a preconceived notion of who he was and what he stood for. When he made that crack about “if you don’t want illegals to get in state tuition you don’t have a heart” I thought OOOPS! That’s going to peel away a lot of support. Who knew he had that attitude? I didn’t. As to Newt’s rise, look back and remember that he was written off early in the race, his staff quit, he was a dead man walking. By being persistent, performing extremely well in debates he showed voters that rumors of his political death were greatly overstated.

As to being “out of the race” this thing fluctuates and that is nothing new. How many presidential elections have you followed? Last time Guliani was the sure bet as was Hillary. Fred Thompson was going to jump in and take the lead. Huckabee was the dark horse who came in and surprised everyone. We ended up with McCain who wasn’t my first, second, or third pick frankly but he was able to gain support over the long haul.

So we’re seeing the same thing this time. Romney has the edge having run last time and established himself so his ratings do not flucuate much. But the others have auditioned and some have shot to the top before shooting themselves in the foot. So that’s a GOOD thing. Let’s check these candidates out and imagine them running against Obama. I liked Herman Cain a lot and while I don’t believe most of the bimbos who want their 15 minutes of fame, the reality is that these skeletons are better exposed BEFORE the primaries or worse yet the election. No one wants another October surprise.

As to Bachmann, I like her a lot but I don’t think she’s electable. I suspect that electability is a HUGE motivating factor in this race. We all know what’s at stake here and the future of our country is in jeopardy. I’m not going to demand a perfect candidate just the most conservative candidate who can BE ELECTED. The candidates are going through a trial by fire and I think it benefits us and benefits them.

Absolutely! But I think we have learned from this experience and while I am deeply sorry for Sarah Palin and her family for the horrible way they were treated, I think this increases our resolve not to allow the MSM to take control of our candidates and futures.

I’m not a conspiracy nut but I think someone or some organization was behind this. I thought the women were NOT very credible and I was embarrassed for women everywhere that they promoted this gold digger bimbo image. No one was helped by these revelations and I think Mr Cain’s candidacy would have run its course. He is an amazing man and I pray that he and his family will recover from this media lynching party.

Someone is behind this amazingly well timed bimbo eruption. I hope we find out who it is and they are brought to justice. Destroying a person’s reputation is among the greatest of evils.

Good to see Herman Cain suspend his campaign. :clapping:
Now he can get back to the business of selling books and giving speeches, except now he gets to charge more. He wasn’t a good candidate, but he’s still a great businessman.

“Great” businessman? I’m not so sure. “Good” businessman is more like it. In the world of pizza restaurants, Godfather’s Pizza is as kaput as…is it even still around anymore? You’ve got Papa John’s and Pizza Hut and Domino’s and California Pizza Kitchen and Little Caesar’s and local mom’n’pops… but I am going to take a guess and estimate the number of Godfather’s Pizza locations to be in the dozens, not in the hundreds. (Someone else can Google the accuracy of my guess.) The guy from Domino’s, the one who started all those Catholic programs, has a better track record as a “great” businessman.

Just because Godfathers isn’t the number once pizza chain does not mean he is not a great businessman. I think I’ve seen them here in Oklahoma, but from what I’ve heard the company was in worse shape when he took over than when he left.

Wallace and Couric are friends, Lisa, and I have every reason to suspect that Wallace acted as a double agent against McCain in the campaign. If she was really trying to HELP McCain, she'd be even more staggeringly incompetent than anyone could imagine.

No doubt about it, Ron Paul.

The guy is not just a politician. He is a statesman. He is willing to discuss anything and not just put a party spin on it. He is by far the most electable person in the race, having won election to Congress 10 times. Can Newt say that? Nope. Can Romney? Nope. Can anybody else? Nope.

And it isn’t like he wins by a small margin. He always wins his elections in landslides. Not to mention he’s honest. I just cannot believe a single word any other candidate says.

622 locations in only 39 U.S. states? And that’s impressive… why? 🤷

Mitt Romney’s business experience extends beyond the U.S. (all 50 states).
You made the claim that he is not a great business man.

Let’s establish the standard for being great first and then we can go from there.

Is saving a large company from going under, therefore saving many jobs considered great?

It took only a very few keystrokes for me to learn that there are 622 Godather’s Pizza restaurants.

What did you say the number was?

And did you ask for someone else to look up the actual number?

You were not only incorrect, but also you were extremely wrong.

Please repeat the reason why you could not be bothered to check your statement for accuracy.
