In this thread we list shows that do not have indecent content.

The two shows I know of are both sitcoms:
  • Last Man Standing
  • Modern Familty

The Lone Ranger…Roy Rogers…Hopalong Cassidy. Yes, they are still being shown, and they illustrate how far we have fallen.

You’re saying Modern Family is a show that does not have indecent content? Really? That runs contrary to everything I have ever heard about the show. 🤷

Well… have you watched it? It is something I would not feel ashamed to watch if Jesus was with me. It is nothing like 2 Broke Girls or Two and a Half Men. It is well written and avoids dirty jokes and does not seem preachy about the evils of conservatism and religion. Very hard to find.

Although there is one gay couple it is not in your face about it. They do nothing dirty or act vulgar.

Then again I do not think Harry Potter is evil itself because their are many virtues like courage, friendship and love. Movies like Fight Club I do find terrible.

PBS nerd checking in: Lark Rise to Candleford and Downton Abbey are must-see-tee-vee for my wife and me.

Nope, I’ve never watched it. All I really know is they have a gay couple on there. 😛 Whenever there is a thread about deplorable stuff on TV, that show seems to get mentioned. 🤷 This is the first time I’ve heard it mentioned as a positive show, so it piqued my interest. Thanks for explaining. 👍

I watch Modern Family and I haven’t seen anything objectional so far. There is a hilarious scene where Cameron and Mitchell accidentally lock Lily (their baby) in the car and try to rescue her.

Although there is one pedophile it is not in your face about it. He does nothing dirty.
I am curious… would you say that Harry Potter or LOTR is bad because there is sorcery or magic, which is also a sin? There is no unanimous opinion that the Church has ruled about any of these.

I like MF because it shows familial love and is uplifting. It breaks the cynical view espoused in media.

Yes, because two non-Catholic adults in a committed, consensual relationship are exactly like a person who rapes children.
It’s called hyperbole. Maybe even with a dash of sarcasm thrown in.

The OP stated that there was no indecent content. His ‘explanation’ for the homosexual couple was that there wasn’t anything in your face. Why not then a pedophile? As long as he’s not shown raping children. Why not a serial-killer? As long as he’s not shown murdering people. An adultering husband? As long as his fling isn’t shown.

A person who is homosexual is one thing. A homosexual couple, in your face or not, is quite another.

Just my 2 cents I guess about what is indecent and what is not. It’s like the old story about the chocolate chip cookies with just a little bit of poop in it.

Well, would you consider a fantasy book like The Hobbit as having indecent content? At one point it jokes about inventing golf by knocking off heads. Plus there is magic and violence.

I am trying to understand this reasoning. If The Hobbit is indeed indecent I have to stop reading books and watching movies and T.V. altogether. Or is being gay worse than violence and sorcery?

I enjoy the show “Psych” and find little if anything morally questionable in it.

I’m not interested in your straw-man arguments. Having a gay couple is indecent content IMHO. Obviously IYHO, it’s not. 🤷

It was a direct comparison between the gay characters on the show and pedophiles-and now you’ve moved on to serial killers and adulterers (and even poop). Don’t try and hide behind words like “hyperbole”-if that’s what you think of gay people, be honest about it.

I’ve only seen the show a few times, and I don’t like it because the gay characters are broadly drawn stereotypes. That just feeds the misconceptions people who don’t know (or don’t think they know) any gay people have about who we are and how we live.

The homosexual lifestyle is sinful but I don’t agree with the comparison between pedophiles and gay people at all. Pedophiles (as well as serial killers) are truly twisted in the head.

Except for the fact that it’s premised on Shawn lying to everyone about being psychic. 😛

I promise, I didn’t intend to be the killjoy in this thread. :o

I agree, though. If you set aside the premise, Psych is pretty good. They don’t bring in a lot of the usual issues that many shows seem obligated to throw in there from time to time. Monk was the same way. I think it helps that neither show takes themselves too seriously.
