Hi,

Has any one read The Third Jesus the Christ we cannot ignore
by Deepak Chopra?

I know nothing about him or his beliefs. I just bought the book at a used book store only because I did hear of his name.

Have any of you heard of him and is he worth the read?
Thanks

Not Catholic; not even Christian. New age, pseudo-science, Eastern mysticism, some occult.

I have found the CatholicCulture.org website reviews invaluable. If a person has a website, you can just look it up through them. But in this case, there are no reviews since he doesn’t even claim to be Christian or even Catholic.

I believe that it was Fr. Mitch Pacwa who stated that Deepak Chopra’s Jesus looks an awful lot like Deepak Chopra.

I wish I could ‘thumbs up’ other posters comments…avoid Deepak Chopra.

I don’t think that’s a good idea.

He is indeed New Age, Hindu/TM---------stuff. One of Oprah’s regular “all-stars,” if you get my drift.
Still worth a read, though, if you want to know what the “other” (and totally erroneous, of course) side thinks.

Good also for knowing how to compare his "theology’ against the One True Faith and knowing how to defend it.

Unlike you, I see no reason not to read----as long as you know what it 'teaches" (basically Pantheism and New Ageism) and you go into it with eyes wide open.

And the protection of the Holy Spirit accompanying you.

Just saying.

A better book would be Dark Secrets of the New Age by Texe Marrs. Though not a Catholic, the writer provides a good, broad overview of the New Age strategies and tactics. Just above the title of the book is “Satan’s Plan for a One World Religion.”

Warning. It is not a comforting read for those unfamiliar with studying such things, but it identifies the common themes being used, even today.

Peace,
Ed

Interesting review, especially in light of how many of my Evangelical friends are so enamored of Chopra. Hardly a day goes by without at least one of them posting a quote or reference to him on Facebook.
I’ve read other books on different subjects where the writing just kept me wanting to turn the page and then realizing that although the author can write well, what I’ve just read does not make sense. So, especially for the young, beguiling words sound wonderful and inviting until you realize what the author’s intentions are.

Peace,
Ed
