**The President and his supporters sought to make this election, at least in part, about women’s rights. Much has been written about how the targeting of key constituencies was intended to stimulate specific votes.

In my view, those who voted for President Obama bear the responsibility for a step deeper in the culture of death. Under the cover of women’s issues, we now see an assault on religious freedom and personal conscience.

In our own state, Governor Andrew Cuomo has proposed the largest expansion of abortion rights in New York State history. The irony is that our leadership is proposing this at a time when increasingly more Americans oppose abortion and support greater restrictions upon abortions. New York State, which already holds the record for the most abortions in our country, is now expanding this culture of death. We may lose, but we will stand up for what we believe.

Some may think my tone a bit strident and even un-nuanced. Maybe the time has come for more direct conversation on these matters, if we hope to preserve what is left of our God-given and Constitutionally-protected rights.**

Considering Obama and Romney were the only two in the running to actually win the election, then I as a Catholic, in accordance with Church teaching had the duty to vote for the candidate who was pro life. My feelings of whether or not I liked Romney were not important, he was pro life as opposed to Obama who is extremely pro abortion.
To vote for someone who had no chance of winning in my opinion was a vote for Obama and his anti life agenda. If two candidates are running then my vote has to be for the one who is pro life regardless of how I feel. What counts is that I am a practicing Catholic and must therefore vote as such. If not voting for the pro life candidate and voting for one who has no chance of winning then I would be just as culpable as the ones who vote for pro Abortion.

I welcome the Bishop’s remarks.

The RCC should deny all sacraments to politicians who support the liberal/culture of death agenda.

Personally I would advocate their being ex-communication from the RCC should they choose to support any policy that extends the liberal/culture of death agenda.

The Church needs to start proclaiming loudly and defending actively, human life.

The Truth must be spoke at all times without fear or favour.

The Bishop’s words are welcome.

Let’s take it a step further. Let’s deny the Sacraments to or excommunicate everyone who voted for Obama. Or everyone who **thought ** about voting for Obama. Or everyone who doesn’t think Obama is the Anti-Christ. And on and on ad nauseum. Why do people–that includes the bishop–feel a need to point fingers? What on earth does that do to help the situation?
