Please remember your priest is a man. I attend a Latin Mass where my dear priest can give the most cringeingly embarrassing sermons. I offer up prayers o these occasions so God will limit his foot- in- mouth- disease.

Respect his office always even when against his speech. If it becomes too galling- find another church.

For instance?

(I take it that you are not implying that if the priest were a woman he/she would not have such embarrassing sermons.)

Good heavens, it has nought to do with gender, but rather his amazing ability to lose the track of his thought. He is simply a poor speaker, sometimes it is much worse than other days.:ehh:

Maybe the term “persecute” was a bit harsh, I don’t have a problem with harass, be it by the laity or clergy.

Truly it is a sad day when it comes to the Missal 1962 vs Missal 1969, Latin vs the vernacular etc etc, it just creates more divisions. If people would read the actual Vat II documents they would discover that many of these new innovations and adaptations were not meant to be.

And David, maybe you should spend a little more time on the new revisions being proposed for the Byzantine Liturgy, I understand that there is a hint of inclusive language and a few other things.

Inclusive language?? Oh no! We might give women the impression that they’re equal in dignity to men!

It has nothing to do with equalness.

an impasse seems to exist between those who say the mass should be said in the language common to the communicants or in the latin. much is said about trent. what did trent say?
22nd session, canon ix- “if any one saith, that the rite of the Roman Church, according to which a part of the canon and the words of consecration are pronounced in a low tone, is to be condemned; or that the mass ought to be celebrated in the vulgar tongue only; or, that water ought not to be mixed with the wine that is to be offered inthe chalice, for that is contrary to the institution of Christ, let him be anathema.” you make up your mind. paul vi, in his writing stated to the effect that the church adheres to the teachings of trent. have a good year. alih.🙂

dear friend it is sad you had this experience at the mother church of the suffrogen see of spokane the cathedral of our lady of lourdes i have a deep and abiding love for the
the sacrifice of the most holy mass it is unfortunate the mass to which i refer is called the extraordinary form i wish and pray that if it be within the lords will to someday fully restore the tridentine mass you will be pleased to know that there are a few parrish locations arround spokane where you can attend both the english translation of the tridentine mass and attend it in its orrigional native and more beautifull tongue
stmicheals being one ( latin ) 8500 n mt-stmicheals rd and our lady of guadelupe 3600 n lidgerwood ( latin ) and my parrish st nicholas antiochian orthodox christian church in the western rite ( mostly english except for the mass of the solemnity of the nativity of our lord and the mass of the solemnity of the resurection of our lord those two masses are entirely latin and all masses at our parrish are the tridentine mass )

and in closing dear friend let me encourage you with the prayer / chant from psalm 51 vs 9 it starts every tridentine mass

in latin
asparges me domine hyssopo et mundabor
lavabis me et super nivem dealbador
miserere magnam misericordiam tuam
