Sure, the ones before have said it in such convoluted manner that I think the practice has been far from it in many cases.Did the pope say anything that he hasn’t said before? In reading the news links which are the basis for the CatholicCulture news summary, it seems Pope Benedict said ecumenism is important but that Church teaching shouldn’t be compromised to achieve that goal.
I’m pretty sure Pope John Paul II and Pope Paul VI said much the same.

But now after thinking a bit more, I think there has to be some emphasis on tradition as well. Otherwise it feels like we will be compromising our tradition to accommodate the traditions of others and as a result loose our own traditions.
Though tradition is not as infallible as Tradition, I think it is important in that it gives guidelines and practices to lead a good holy life. To loose it therefore is a shame.
