I know that the whole story is (and never was) told in the media…
I hear these sentiments a lot at Church and among my fellow Catholics.

What I don’t understand is: What IS the whole story? What is being kept out of the news that would vindicate these awful people? What’s the other side of the coin that makes it known that we as a Church don’t condone these activities or looking the other way?

Men of influence and acting as God’s servants did vile and atrocious things to children, of whom Jesus Himself said in Mark 10:14, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these."

Please, seriously, tell me the other side of the story. I hope I don’t come off as being inflammatory, but I really do want to know.

And, although there are sinners in the Church, that does not eclipse the truth that the Church teaches.

Also, much is being done to correct what caused certain seminarians to be accepted in their seminaries.

The Church has been through a lot since her beginnings, and has survived. She will survive this as well.
My take is that God allowed it to go on for so long to prepare humanity for the abolishment of priesthood. The same with Muslim Mullas who terrorise people using the ignorance of the masses as suicide bombers etc. God created us to see with our own eyes and know of our own knowledge not through the knowledge of others so He gave us independent minds.

Priests and Mullas have falsely usurped the power of people’s minds through deceiving them that they are divinely guided.

Now God has shown us its a myth that priests and Mullas are guided. They sexually have abused our children for centuries and Mullas have beheaded thousands with their so called ‘divinely guided inspiration’.

Now is the time to look with our own eyes and think with our own minds not these creeps poisoned minds who are the worst examples of human beings that exist.

Priesthood and Mullas will be abolished because as people use their own minds they will cease listening to their trash. We can read Christ’s Words without their help as God gave us all equal minds to find the truth.

The Church will not survive this because it has betrayed the trust of humanity. Humanity will never trust it again. You can’t abuse kids for centuries and then say ‘trust me’. The world will never trust priests or Mullas again and the time will come when they will be an extinct species.

Rascalking: “Agree with you my British brother!”

Can I be your brother?

I am an Anglican.
C.S/ Lewis was an Anglican. My wife is an Anglican. They can’t be all that bad. (Humour!) I will call you my brother any day.

There are many who will kick the Church when they can, and we must pray for these bigots. However we must accept the facts. There was abuse; it was covered up; the abuse of children seems to be across all institutions that cared for children during these decades. It is also true that there was a cultural shift from seeing this as a private sin to a public crime, a move for the better in my opinion.
We must always defend the priesthood as the percentage of good and holy men far outnumbers those that fell. Even the angels fell. We must humbly accept judgement, but be prepared to keep abreast of the movement of the Church, starting with the Popes, to internally address this problem to show progress.
I see nothing wrong with showing the statistics of pedophilia across the general population of caring institutions to seek an understanding of a societal failure.

Indeed the Church proves it is a ship of sinners, and ask those who are prepared to throw the first stone to look hard at their own glass houses.

Actually, I just finished up a debate about this at a gaming website. At this website, they have a separate forum thread for controversial topics. I’ve been at this website for 5+ years, and I finally took issue with the fact that the only child abuse stories that were mentioned were the ones where the perpetrators were Catholic Priests. I highlighted just 5 other stories of child abuse within the same week (…one involving 10000 children with street gangs…). I wanted to know why they seem to have two classes of abused children: 1) children who were abused by priests, and 2) ones that weren’t. Apparently…one set of children deserve to be discussed, and the others don’t.

Well…the hornets nest came up in full force and eventually accused me of being an accessory to child abuse. I’ve since left this community given the line that was crossed. Yes…I admitted there was a problem. Yes, I said those that abused kids were criminals. At the same time, I think I was justified at being angry that they ignore other cases of abuse.

Seems to me, that in my case, there are just some who find it morbidly “fun” to kick at the Catholic Church. Doesn’t matter how you go about it…I just think there are some that are convinced to kick you in the teeth no matter what you say to follow up and shed light on how the church is handling the situation.
For me its not about being a Catholic kicking exercise. It’s far more serious than that. To trust human beings as being divinely guided is wrong no matter what Faith you believe in Christian. Muslim, Jew, Hjndu or Buddhist etc. it takes away our God endowed ability to think with our own brains and see with our own minds when we agree to be spoon fed.

Anyone can read and study scriptures without need for a priest of any Faith. Clergy in all Faiths have too much power. Mullas send youth on suicide bombings. Christian popes had their wars. Why did people follow them? War and killing is against Christ’s teachings yet people blindly followed and killed when it says Thou shalt not kill.

The thing is no-one on this earth is infallible or divinely guided. No one individual can claim written authority from God to have infallible guidance so we should use our own minds and not have erected a priesthood in the first place. The priesthood the people allowed to be erected eventually became corrupt and started wars and now child abuse and attempts to cover it up. Who gave priests and Mullas and Pharisees their power? We did. Now we should take it away. None of them have any documents from God saying they have authority over any religion or Faith. Yet we have blindly trusted them now God is showing us we should be using our own minds not trust priests and Mullas etc
