One of the readings for Roman Catholic Masses on a recent Sunday, from the Book of Wisdom, recounts how the Hebrews defied the pharaoh by worshipping God “in secret.” That passage resonates at the house in Fort Myers, Fla., where Lee is conducting Mass for 25 Catholics gathered in front of a coffee-table altar in defiance of the Pope. “Rome says you’ll be thrown out of the church for being here,” says Lee, “because I’m a woman.”

Interesting approach to ordination…bit self indulgent through. Like tossing a baseball a couple of times, then saying I’m a pitcher for the Yankee’s and n one can say otherwise…
 
And she doesn’t even have the facts right for the Church she has decided to leave. :mad:

The Vatican has confirmed the excommunication of those women who pretend to be ordained and those who pretend to ordain them. While gravely wrong, there is no such penalty for attending a Mass reinactment led by one of these women.

I had to laugh because this one gets it wrong almost out of starting gate with this:

Alta Jacko is the mother of eight children. She is also an ordained priest in the Roman Catholic Church.

Whatever she is, she is NOT ordained in the Roman Catholic church, but rather a heretical variation thereof. Using Time’s shoddy reportage, I expect articles on any one of the current anti-popes and that in them they should be referred to as ‘The Pope’. I expect that if I declare myself to be ruler of the world, they’ll have an obligation to refer to me as such. Oh, and that apple sitting on the table in my kitchen is actually a steak.

she and the people who go to her “mass” are idiots. women cannot be priests, just as men cannot be mothers. i hope that whatever bishop whos diocese she is in makes it a public point to excommunicate her

i stand corrected, he already did. TIME is an ignorant publication, if she is excommunicated that means that she is no longer in the church.

Time needs a reporter who is more knowledgable about Catholicism.

Alta isn’t an ordained priest, she’s self excommunicated.

If those attending believe they are correct they are heretics, there is a penalty for heresy.

Actually there would be. I cite the case of Father Charles Hausen who incurred "latae sententiae” excommunication (he separated himself from the church) in his formation of Christ Hope Ecumenical Catholic Church here in Pittsburgh. It was further declared by the diocese that “that free and willful participation in this church implies separation from the Catholic Church.” (as quoted from the Pittsburgh Catholic – reference to it here religionnewsblog.com/7159/priest-who-formed-splinter-church-excommunicated)

Therefore I think it could be said that as a Mass (capital M used here) is not celebrated by these women as they are not priests, their mass (lower case m used here) is not much more than pretend, and anyone considering it as a substitute for the Mass has in effect excommunicated themselves

It’s all about what they want… I wanted to celebrate mass, I wanted to be a priest, etc. Being a priest is supposed to be a response to a call from God.
 
I would like to be a little mouse hiding in the clouds of the heavenly gates when these nutjobs show up.
Ok, now I have to say three Hail Marys and four Our Fathers.
I will pray for there eternal souls.
 
Newsweek recently did a few things that crossed it off my list of magazines I might buy, now Time.

This is about The Revolution! Let’s go out and overthrow something. Of course, those exact words can’t be used. Instead, you demonize the Church, cast women as victims who have been rejected and so on.

Could it be that when some of these women were girls they saw some boys playing Army and one girl said, Can we play? And the boys said, No. This is just for boys?

The answer is and will always be: The Church has no authority to ordain women.

Well if they want to be priestesses than they can go off and be Anglicans. Why is it necessary for people to change things that aren’t meant to be changed?

I find it very funny That Blessed Mary is the Mother of the Church, the Church referres to it self as a she But narrow minded people can not see, the change is needed.:confused:

my friend if you think women should be priests you will find it hard to come into the church as you religion status indicates. the blessed virgin was not an apostle, was not a priest, was not a deacon, had Christ intended women to be priests im sure He would have chosen his mother

How do you change the word of God?:confused:
 
Women and men have different roles in society and different roles in the Church.

Looked what happened after extremist women tried to take on the roles of men back during the Feminist movement, and look at the results. Divorce rates through the roof, women dominating men, society’s gender roles being blurred, and society just getting FUBAR’d due to women being seen as being able to do everything a man can do.

We don’t want that in the Church.

Women have HUGE roles in the Church, but one of the roles they have does not and will not include “priest”. But to say that, because a woman can’t be a priest, she is oppressed in the Church, is to be ignorant of many of the Church’s Saints and much of the Church’s history. This includes being ignorant of the most important human being in the Church who was not also God—Mary.

It’s as ridiculous as a man say saying “I can’t get pregnant? God is oppressive to men!”

Suffice it to say if God wanted women priests then perhaps Jesus would have included a female in the original 12. The Catholic Church is not a popularity contest, whatever is young and hip does not determine theology. I recommend a story I read from my hometown paper on a man-made church which has found itself pretty far from Jesus’ teachings because of that same popularity contest.

Also note that Mary is considered the Mother of the Church. (John 19:26-27)

The Church is considered the Bride of Christ.

There is meaning in the genders, it is not arbitrary when it comes to God’s teaching.

I also recommend reading on the Old Testament priesthood and “In Persona Christi”.
