Delay will be back. Look for him to run for the House or Senate in 2008.

The left will celebrate “We took Delay down” or something similar for a while, despite the fact a Republican will be selected to represent this same district by the party and will likely win in the fall by a huge margin.

That’s how it looks from where I sit.

It is my understanding that Rep. DeLay is making a purely political decision. His reasoning is that the voters would associate him with the wider scandal, and that that negatively affects his chances in Nov. Whether or not he is innocent would be irrelevent, because voter perception would trump all.
As for Dem. reaction, all signs point to a “this-issue-is-bigger-than-one-man” stance, as opposed to “taking DeLay down”.

They got DeLay, just like they got Gingrich.

DeLay hammered the Democrats for years. Ronnie Earle is the out of control Democrat District Attorney from Austoin who indicted DeLay. They hate DeLay because DeLay helped Texas Republicans put an end to the Democrat gerrymandering in Texas. Look for the GOP to take on and whip Ronnie Earle.

Republican or Democrat?

DeLay is a hypocrite and possibly corrupt (innocent until proven guilty).

He does not support life any more than some one supports abortion. Sorry but true. Look at his voting records.

From where I sit, name calling is never productive nor is it in keeping with the forum guidelines. Perhaps you can show us with his actualy voting record how Delay is a hypocrite?

Good riddence to (alleged) bad rubbish…but from where I sit, innocent people dont step down from their positions.

I suppose if Delay is found to be innocent of all charges you’ll be ready to admit innocent people can step down from their postitions to better defend themselves, right?

How does voting for this bill make Delay a hypocrite?

This is a bad thing? Not from where I sit. Reducing the rate of government spending is a good thing. Nor is it hypocritical to have voted yes for this, from where I sit.
H.AMDT.22 to HR 8000;3/11/1999 : VOTED NO:Amendment sought to provide that only schools in which at least 35 percent of the students come from low-income families may seek a waiver to use their Title I funds to operate school-wide projects.

How does this vote make Delay a hypocrit?
Bill Number: HR 1; 12/13/2001; VOTED NO: Vote to adopt a conference report that authorizes $26.5 billion to update and reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, enacted in 1965.
How does voting no in this instance make Delay a hypocrite?
Bill Number: HR 1904; 11/21/2003; VOTED YES: Vote to adopt a conference report that would authorize $760 million a year to reduce forest fires, and limits judicial reviews of environmental protection rules.

How do these votes = Delay being a hypocrite? From where I sit, citing these votes indicates you’d rather Delay vote as a Democrat. He’s not a Democrat nor does he claim to be.

Nothing hypocritical in the voting records you’ve presented I can see.

Lacks social responsibility.

How is one to support life in the womb but then turn around and make it difficult for the child outside the womb?

When you cut education, medicare, environmental regulations and etc. You make it difficult for life to live. Remember we live as a society and as Christ called out for us to love and to be charitable to one another.

So it is perfectly acceptle to have mothers living in poverty to have difficult time obtaining assistance both monetarily and for health care?

Is it acceptable to cut education and environmental regulations so our children have less teachers and books and an environment with increasing mercury levels and other air and water pollutants.

How is this Christian?

Not from where he sits, apparently. Again, you’ve not demonstrated how this votes makes Delay a hypocrite. You’ve only demostrated why you disagree with it.

Delay’s vote made it difficult for children outside the womb? Are you familiar with the phrase “logical fallacy”?
When you cut education, medicare, environmental regulations and etc. You make it difficult for life to live.
Another logical fallacy. Cutting the rate at which these programs spend more money doens’t make life difficult to live for anyone.

I wish Delay had been successful in getting the federal Dept of Education dissolved. From where I sit, the public school system is nearly ruined as a direct result of federal controls and mandates.
Remember we live as a society and as Christ called out for us to love and to be charitable to one another.
True. However, Christ didn’t call for us to increase the federal government spending on entitlement programs. Nor did Christ call for dependance upon the US federal government to provide programs in order to create a voting base for liberal Democrats;)

Still waiting for proof Delay is a hypocrite?. So far, you’ve not provided any. You’ve only proven your a Democrat;)

Delay’s vote does not = mothers living in poverty having a difficult time obtaining assistance fiscally or for health care.
Is it acceptable to cut education
YES!!! It is VERY acceptable to dissolve federal control of the public school system and return control to the states and local communities!!!
and environmental regulations so our children have less teachers and
books and an environment with increasing mercury levels and other air and water pollutants.
Always love this tactic:take 2 different, unrealted issues and tie them together as to make it more difficult to be argued against.

1st off, environmental regulations and federal spending on education are seperate issues.

2ndly, reduced federal expenditures on education does not = fewer teachers nor does it = fewer text books.

3rdly None of the votes you shared with us = the increasing of mercury levels nor the increase of water pollutants. Not investigating does not equal an increase.
How is this Christian?
Because it’s honest and the notions you’ve put forth regarding Delay and whether he is a hypocrite or not have nothing to do with Christ or the Church at all from where I sit.

Back to your assertion you’ve yet to validate with fact: How do these votes make Delay a hypocrite? You asserted Delay is a hypocrite and I would like for you to either withdraw your assertion or show us how he is a hypocrite, please.
