Not that I like him but actually “he” hasn’t spent as much as Congress has allowed him.

It’s Bernanke and the FED which is running up the liability side of the U.S. government balance sheet by printing money which isn’t being circulated but the taxpayers are on the hook for. You’ve heard of QE1 and QE2 and the purchase of all those “toxic assets” haven’t you?
Perhaps it might have been more accurate to say what has happened under Obama’s watch rather than saying that it was him doing.

It is his presidency, and he is ultimately responsible.

One of the problems with quantitative easing, by the sounds of it, is that money may be released to the banks, but that does not mean that banks are always ready to lend, or others are eager to borrow.
Playing the class warfare care by demagogueing about “making the rich pay” can’t really be helping the process of stimulating any investments that will get people working again, and paying more taxes as a result.

You make good points.

It’s funny (not really) the way it works. Bush Sr. later blamed Greenspan for his defeat to Clinton. But Reagan hardly thanked Paul Volcker for his success in moving the economy. Many faulted Bush for his selection of Bernanke, whom many faulted for the downturn yet Obama renominated him. Against a lot of resistance by the Democrats and Republicans, I might add. He should have listened.

Gotta watch the Fed. They will make you or break you ultimately. Isn’t that what Ron Paul has been saying?

Yeah, how is Geitner to blame? I’m not a big fan but I don’t see how his resignation solves anything. It’s the responsibility of Congress to decide how much money we spend. The President can suggest and submit a Budget, which he did in Feb 2011, but ulitmately its the Congress that decides.
Someone has to take the blame and you know it won’t be Geitner’s boss. The only thing I have heard him admit was that he once voted not to extend the debt ceiling when he was in the senate. That is now considered irresponsible, but it was not then. A resignation might buy a few days of time to come up with another fall guy and then we will have months of argument about why the new nominee is no better.

It is time for a bi-partisan compromise. President Obama wants two terms. I want him to have none. Compromise on one.😛

no, he would be included in the 3rd step! 👍 then pelosi, and on and on. . .
Actually, it would be Boehner after Biden. Then Senate President Pro Tempore (The Senator from Hawaii), then the Secretary of State and then the rest of the Cabinet members.

Pelosi’s not even in line.
