The former director of the Office of Faith-Based Initiatives for the governor of Ohio was arrested Wednesday for his involvement in an online prostitution ring. Eric McFadden, who has also formerly served as the president of the organization Catholics for Faithful Citizenship and spokesperson for Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good, will face seven prostitution-related charges tomorrow in court.

I knew this person when he ran the “Catholics for Kerry” website and posted a lot of “pro-Obama” stuff on Steve Ray’s board.

He was really messed up on Church teachings then, and it’s said to see how much he has fallen since 😦

People like this cause such great scandal. I am so sorry he is
so messed up. Even more than he was before. And that he was
so prominent, all the more scandal.

I’m not surprised or shocked in anyway. I know people don’t like what I say even my brothers and sisters at my Parish when I tell them you cannot be a Catholic and Democrat because of what that their platform is.

Supports the culture of death and other things.

Lol Stan…the GOP allows pro-abortion people in its party; they have given official speaking rights to pro-abortion (and other anti-life issues) Republicans at the Republican National Conventions The GOP officially endorses pro-death candidates, financially supports their campaigns, and aids them in tough times.

CONTRADICTION.

Pro-life Democrats and pro-choice Republicans. It’d be REALLY nice if people who stop oversimplifying politics, because if there is one truth in this world, it’s that politics is complicated and convaluted. (Speaking as the Political Science major that I am).

There is NO middle of the road on murder and nor is there on abortion.Murder is not complicated nor is it convoluted.PLEASE do not fall prey to moral relativism which in itself is demonic.😦

I think the point is that these Catholics don’t really know enough
about their faith. On of the groups this man was involved with
is a group supporting women priests, etc. Trying to get the
Church to be “progressive.”

Nothing wrong with people wanting the catholic church to be more progressive, it does not hurt anyone.

Nor is there anything wrong with the church wanting to keep their views, I myself would like to see the church be more liberal on some issues, but it’s their right to do what they want as long as it does not hurt anyone.

Just remember that the Church is prevented from being too progressive or liberal as the Holy Spirit protects Her as the guardian of God’s word.

I’m talking about the DNC platform not an individual. The DNC does not allow pro-life people to speak.

I do too even my non-practicing in name only Catholic brother he is wrong. He does it like most practicing Catholics for greed, for the money.

I cannot support a party that supports the killing of babies. The Holy See agrees with me on that one.

“Don’t be so opened minded that your brains fall out”—Fr. John Corapi.

A wise person once told me that the devil likes to attack the leaders. So the devil was quite busy working on this man who claims leadership & visibility in his positions in Catholic organizations. Can he be forgiven by God? Absolutely. Does he have to be tried for his crimes? Absolutely. Has he created a scandal among those who follow him? Absolutely.
Does he need our prayers? Absolutely, and so does his family who has hurt even more.
He obviously did not practice in truth what he preached. He was hiding his secret life from even himself. More reasons to pray.

I think John XXIII was the most progressive Catholic of my lifetime. The statement that a person cannot be a good Catholic and a good Democrat is just a highly inaccurae blanket statement.

Pope JohnXXlll did not change teachings. Right now and, for a
time, the Democrat party has supported abortion, euthansia,
same sex marriage and any “pro-life” democrat stifled or rendered
ineffective. The current platform is the most pro abortion platform
ever.
The Catholic outreacher for a long time has supported in a very
public way uncatholic teachings. Of course, many only hear he
is a Catholic, thus the scandal.

Some folks would quibble with that statement. I believe that teachings as to Jews were changed.

I don’t think the platform of the DNC supports either euthanasia or same-sex marriage – I know that Obama does not. And I think it is much more pro-choice than pro-abortion.

Be specific as to how the “teaching” on Jews was changed.
Usually a teaching is clarified, especially if there is abuse
or false teaching taking place.
The democrats are in support of rationing health care to the
elderly (Hillary Clinton’s health plan had such measures).
Support for euthansia,(Terri Schiavo). Lawyer for Terri’s husband
(Picked for a top position in Obama’s administration)
Support for ESCR, and cloning.
Have you read the Democrat Party’s platform? If not, I suggest
you read it. (I won’t supply a link, I don’t want to go there, but
it is easy to find)

A person could be a Democrat and Catholic years ago when most of the party was prolife. Look how many have changed their views on that one issue. They have had their heads turned by the prodeath groups, and now they own the party. It is very corrupt and not in line with Catholic thinking. I think you are blinded by your love/admiration for Obama. I think he has blinded many good people.

I think you can be Catholic and Democrat. Not all Democrats vote for pro-abortion candidates. It is more about how you cast your votes than your party affilitation. Although rare, there are Democrats who are working to change the party from the inside without compromising thier own pro-life committment.

But back on topic: Both of the organizations cited in the OP, Catholics for Faithful Citizenship and Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good, grossly misstated and twisted Catholic teaching in their published and net material. This applies to life issues as well as to other social justice issues. Having the word Catholic in the organization’s name is no indication that those involved are representing Catholic teaching or even are conversant in it. They are of the same category as Catholics for Free Choice.

People who are associated with these kind of groups deserve the millstone around their neck as promised in the Bible for leading others astray.

I know this guy also, from a music board I frequent. It’s very sad how somone can fall so far from the truth yet believe they have the truth. I went toe to toe with him a few times Re the election and abortion. He just didn’t get it, he definitely twisted the church’s teaching.
