Open carry is like closed carry – it is for self-defense from deadly force. I think those open carry folks had it wrong – where was deadly force going to come from?Open carry is simply more convenient. Though it does forfeit the element of surprise.
With carry comes discretion, also. I would not carry at a protest or near a group of angry people. It has the potential of turning a verbal argument into a gunfight.

I do think, however, that the protests and the rallies, as well as the apparently premature reopening of the economy, are all means of spreading the virus despite the justness of the cause or the hardship created by unemployment. If we want an economy at all and if we want the freedom to protest and attend rallies, we must proceed with more caution to ensure the safety of all by the eradication of the virus. It is really tough, but necessary.

A Black person was killed in police custody but a dozen more were killed by protesters and many others were injured.Yet life and liberty are intertwined in the protests because Black people are being killed.
Are you sure this protest was about life?
Note: 9 Black unarmed assailants were killed by police for the whole of last year, 12 died by protesters in a matter of days.

You must be aware that the protests are not only about the killing of George Floyd but are the culmination of a whole pattern of police behavior toward Blacks that has been happening for many years. And who knows how many other incidents have occurred which we are not even aware of because they were not captured on video? Apart from this, most of the protesters are not violent but of course there have been a few agitators who do nothing to help the cause of justice. So yes, I do believe the demonstrations are about saving the lives of Black people from police brutality by means of police reform.

Good question. Time magazine has a cover of protesters and I don’t see any social distancing at all.Anybody care to explain how rallies / protests / events one group supports are fine during COVID19, but rallies / protests / events of other groups are “irresponsible and selfish?”
