Democrats now critical of Rice's Benghazi explanation, amid more damaging evidence

Congressional Democrats on Sunday distanced themselves from the Obama administration’s explanation of the Benghazi, Libya, attacks in the immediate aftermath of the fatal strikes, amid mounting evidence that suggests the information was revised to intentionally mislead Americans.

The original explanation of the Sept. 11, 2012, attacks on the U.S. outpost in Benghazi, Libya, was written by CIA officials, then revised by State Department and White House officials, according to news reports and witness testimony made available to Fox News.

Removed from the CIA’s so-called talking points were references to “Islamic extremists” and Al Qaeda in Libya. And five days later, Susan Rice, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, made the Sunday talk show rounds to say the attacks were “demonstrations” sparked by protests in Egypt over an anti-Islamic video on YouTube.

However, the video is never mentioned in the numerous talking-points drafts, according to a Weekly Standard story last week, based in part on a 43-page House report and records of official emails.

On Sunday, he also said he welcomes a House Oversight and Government Affairs Committee hearing this week in which Greg Hicks, the deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Libya at the time of attacks, is expected to say Rice said the attacks didn’t appear to be “pre-meditated or pre-planned,” despite having information suggesting they were.

Talk about flip-flopping. Didn’t Obama say something like “how dare you criticize her?!” to Republicans? It’s very convenient how the mainstream media waited until the elections were over before they started really digging into this. They bend-over backwards to protect their own.

By the way, mainstream media is what you would get for free with just a TV antenna, and that would be things like ABC, NBC, CBS, and PBS.

Can only hope that that is all going to start to unravel.

Obama supporters seem to be perfectly fine with the fact that Obama lied during both of his election campaigns about getting us out of Afghanistan. We are still there, and soldiers are still dying for what reason? What happened to all the anti-war protesters from the left that used to protest every day in front of the White House during the Bush years? I guess they were a bunch of fakes. 🙂

Yes! With any luck, this will be Obama’s Watergate. It seems to have it all: lies, cover-up, and conspiracy.

Not with a media that bends over backwards to protect their own. Someone other than Obama will take the fall for him as it always happens. I wonder why anyone would want to work for him in a high level position when anything that goes wrong is never his fault but always is the fault of whomever works just under him. How many have been thrown under the bus in his place? I lost count. If the Osama bin Laden raid would have gone bad it would have been the Admiral’s fault who was in charge of the operation. But since it went well Obama gets all the credit even though Osama was captured by using the same intelligence tactics and procedures that were built and refined during the Bush admin combined with the sheer luck of having someone come forward to tell them where Osama was hiding. Why wasn’t it “you didn’t build that” in this case? 🙂

I was very surprised to read this on CBS today:

Throughout the night, sources say Americans on the ground in Libya at times felt helpless and abandoned.

“We relied on Washington for dispassionate assessment,” one eyewitness told CBS News. "Instead, they [Washington officials] were asking us what help we needed. We answered: ‘Send reinforcements!’ "

But they were told immediate help wasn’t available.

Embassy personnel say they repeatedly asked the Defense Attache on site in Tripoli for military assistance.

“Isn’t there anything available?” one Embassy official says he asked. “But the answer was ‘no.’”

“What about Aviano?” the official pressed, referencing the NATO air base with US assets in northeastern Italy. “No,” was the answer.

Two of the four Americans killed that night died hours after the first attack began.

That witness is Mark I. Thompson, a former Marine and now the deputy coordinator for operations in the agency’s counterterrorism bureau. Sources tell Fox News Thompson will level the allegation against Clinton during testimony on Wednesday before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, chaired by Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif.

Notice how no liberal posters are on this thread. I wonder if they are okay with this because of Obama’s age and skin colour or some government check, or if they are hiding hoping this will just go away. 🤷

At least republicans will call out their own when they mess up.
 
After the Benghazi attack, Hillary Clinton on multiple times blamed the anti Islam video as being related to the attack in Benghazi. In the Benghazi Hearing she said:
With all due respect, the fact is we have four dead Americans. Whether it was because of a protest or because guys outside for a walk one night decided to go kill some Americans. What difference at this point does it make?

White House and senior State Department officials altered accurate talking points drafted by the Intelligence Community in order to protect the State Department. Contrary to Administration rhetoric, the talking points were not edited to protect classified information. Concern for classified information is never mentioned in email traffic among senior Administration officials.

Reductions of security levels prior to the attacks in Benghazi were approved at the highest levels of the State Department, up to and including Secretary Clinton. This fact contradicts her testimony before the House Foreign Affairs Committee on January 23, 2013.
